Where and which Innoventions can you make your own robot? How do you make it? How long does it take? Do you get to keep the robot? How much does it cost?

Thanks!

Its free!!! They take you thru a little tour all about plastic and at the end of it you build a little robot. It takes about a minute or two to build the robot and about 15 mins for the talk about plastics.

When I went last month, and you listen to a short talk on plastics while you are waiting to enter the game area. There you design a robot on the computer and then do a race your robot on the computer with the other people playing. There are about 12 terminals so 12 people can play at a time. Then you go to the robot area where youcan build your robot from the associated parts. Overall it took about 15 minutes. The robot is free and you get to pick the diffierent colored robot parts and assemble it yourself(very easy). It was in the innoventions on the right if you are facing the front of the park.

Just so you know, it is just a plastic robot body. All the parts are the same just different colors. You just snap it together. A neat little freebie for the kids, but not anything really impressive.

The exhibit is about plastics. At the end you get to make a robot out of plastic various different colored plastic pieces.

My DD had a blast making her robot.

I thought it was cool that the plastic pieces are molded right there in front of you. Once they're done, a robot (what else) moves the newly made plastic parts from the mold machine to appropriate bins at the tables where you make the robots.

My DS 11 LOVED this - especially creating & racing the virtual robots. There were kids of all ages, even some older teens & young adults, doing this & everyone seemed to be having a Great time. DS keeps his plastic robot on his dresser as a momento of something he really enjoyed. In fact, it was one of his favorite activities on our last trip. But Innoventions is one of his favorite places - he's a science nut!

My 10 year old loved this. We each made one with different colors and now he has lots of pieces to put together.

My DS and I created and raced our robot together back in November and he had an ABSOLUTE BALL! And, we came in first place, to boot. This is one of the things he's looking most forward to on our next two trips.

Well if it takes a minute to 15 minutes to make the robot I bet it will take me half an hour to make the thing LOL.

This was one of my kids favorite things to do as well. It took 30 minutes from the start of the plastic info speech, to the robot designing and race, then they had to select the colored pieces and put together their toy. They wanted to do it agin, but I had had my limit. they need parent benches in there!

Just FYI. You don't have to sit thru the "talk" to get a free robot. You can just walk in the back way and build your robot instead. That said, I really enjoyed playing the game with my boys and my DS 4 and I won ;-)

Thanks for the help! One more question. How do you run the race? I use an electric wheelchair full-time. Could I participate?

Thanks!

Wow thank you for posting this. I would never have seen it. Innoventions is always so busy when we go. I know we always miss things. Now that I know what to look for my ds(12) will love this. He is on a robotics team at school- captain next year :cheer2: !

...facing the front of the park from outside the park? or inside the park?

Sorry if I'm being dense, LOL. How about this...is it the one one the Test Track side? or the Soarin' side? :teeth:

I am reviving an old thread....

Do they still have the robot making at Innoventions and if so, would a 2 & 4 year old like it/be able to put it together or is it for older kids?

Thanks!!!

It was there as of Dec 21st. The putting together the robot part would be fine for a 4 year old (and maybe a 2 year old). The lengthy part of designing a robot video game character and running a race with it might be too much for the 2 year old.
