Inground pool question #362

My question is about extra dirt. When do they usually take it away? At what point in the process? We had our excavation on 8/5, but we have WAY too much left over dirt. I would think they would have taken it away on excavation day....or do they use some of it for backfill when they cover up the trenches? We will still have a lot left over........

Besides that - pool is looking great. We had our coping & our tile completed yesterday!

they used ours to backfill and level out our backyard.. i thought we had a ton of dirt too, was amazed, when they used it all.. we had tons of people/neighbors that said they wanted some of the dirt..

ours left some remnants for backfill--but that took out one if not two dump truck fulls and "found" a place. The responsible thing is to coordinate with contractors who need dirt to level land.

I had a neighbor come by and ask for it--since it was gone...I did tell him where I found that it had been dumped.

But to answer your question--our pool build included leveling the land to what it was--and included the hauling away of excess dirt.

They used ours to level our backyard as well. But we had made arrangements prior to the digging to leave all of it for this purpose.

Seems like you will be swimming on no time. Our contractor started on our pool last October promsing it would all be done by Thanksgiving, except the plaster, etc. that had to wait till spring. They came in first week and dug the whole and then didn't come back and left a big whole in our backyard from Oct to Jan. What a mess! it is very nice now though and kids def got our monies worth out of it this summer.

I see you are from MD as I am! Who was your pool contractor? We are using Sunrise Premier Pool Builders out of Arnold, MD....although we live in Carroll County. Shows you how much money they make if they are willing to make that hike!
