I opened and ING account with the idea of making that our primary savings account, our interest at our regular bank went from high 3's to low 1's in the new year and no longer want our money there.

Now, I am a little leary because it is online. Both my husband and I got 20 emails (same email) from them when I needed to confirm our account and I find that quite odd.

Anyone have any issues?

Well that is odd - but I have had one for several years now and I love it.

Not sure what the 20 emails was about, but I've used ING for years with no issues at all.

Love my ING account. Try to check it from time to time just to make sure my direct deposit goes in every Friday but I try not to think about it too much so I can get a nice balance saved up!:thumbsup2

I have also used ING Direct without a problem. I was worried when I first signed up, but with all the great reviews from DISers I gave it a shot and glad I did.

Have accounts for me and DH, as well as the kids' savings accounts. No problems whatsoever. I've had the accounts for several years.

I've had our ING savings accounts for several years and have never had a problem. Love ING!

Ditto everyone else's experience - multiple accts for several years now. Never a problem. Now that they've got Electric Orange, I think I'm going to close my BoA accts.

cheers,
:flower3:

I saw all the wonderful posts about them here and opened an account on Friday. TODAY the interest dropped from 3.4% to 3.1%! I chose them over HSBC (3.55%) because of the ease of setup/use, since .15% wasn't a big difference. But .45% is a bigger deal... oh well. In any case it's better than the piddly amt I earned in my regular savings.

I love my ING account! their rates for savings accounts makes those offered by my credit union look paltry. I have my vacation and emergency fund money direct deposited into my Electric Orange checking, then have funds deposited into the various savings accounts I have. :thumbsup2

Not another interest drop....bummer.

Bummer on the interest for sure, but atleast I feel better about the account. I have followed ING for a while now but was happy with my brick and mortar account until the new year so really had no reason to transfer.

The one thing I don't like about ING is the length of time their money transfers take... it took them over a week to register the money I'd sent to them from our tax return. Included in this was several days AFTER the transfer had hit my regular bank account!

I opened up a checking account with them, with a debit card, in case we ever need to access that money quickly. I'm hoping that their internal transfers don't take that long!! They simply can't. right?

This is where our $1000 emergency fund is (which will go up to $2000 in May with part of our Gee-Dubya rebate) so it's out-of-sight out-of-mind. But the thought of having to wait a week to access funds in an emergency scares the crud outta me.

Right now there's only 5 bucks in the checking account, so I can't spend the emergency fund without the concious effort of going to the website and transfering the funds. But at least I could most likely access it same-day if something came up. Really, really not happy with their transfer times.

You can always call them and ask about the emails. I had a few questions about my account and called to talk to someone. I talked to the most helpful and nice guy. I would not hesitate to call them again in the future.

I have automatic transfers into ING every pay week, and they register within 2-3 days every time (they do put a 10 day hold on accessing the new funds, but the funds are in the account very quickly).

I have an Orange Checking account with ING and when one of the checks didn't get cashed, I got about 35 emails notifying me that my money was returned to my account.

I emailed them about it, and they apologized for the inconvenience and said it only went through once.

So it sounds like they were having issues.

Then maybe it's just a difference in perspective... as far as I'm concerned, if it's not accessable, it's not in the account. :confused3 The amount I sent them sat in my "Balance" but wasn't "Avaliable" for a disturbingly long time. 10 days sounds about right. :headache: Needless to say, we're building up our regular savings at our credit union.

A 10 day hold is put on all funds - even bonuses you may receive for referring others to ING. It's their standard hold that should've been explained before you signed up. Since I'm using it for long-term savings, I guess it doesn't bother me as much. It earns interest as soon as it's in there, so that's a good thing.

I have been with ING since 2001 and never had a problem until this week. I made a 401k rollover into a savings IRA and it was deposited into my checking account :scared1: I placed a call and it was placed correctly within minutes.

I also wanted to point out that direct deposits are available immediately, transfers have a hold.

So is that true if I transfer money between my ING savings account and my ING checking account? That's mostly what I care about. If we have an emergency I'm going to need to access that money.
