Information regarding Kids Counter Service on Dining Plan

I just thought some of you might be interested in this. On our trip two weeks ago for the first two days we ordered counter service for dd off of the kids menu which I was very disapointed in. However, then Sunday night we were eating at Cosmic Rays at Magic Kingdom and I commented to the lady taking our order I could not believe they did not have a burger option for the children. She informed me on Counter Service that they did not distinquish between adult and children and you could order an adult meal for them. So we did order adult meals for dd at Cosmic Rays, the Food Court at All Star Movies and the Electric Umbrella at Epcot the rest of the week. She was so much happier as she is not a big Chicken Nugget eater. However, later in the week at the end of our vacation we ate at the commisary at MGM the cashier there told me we could not do that and she did not understand why the other cashier had told us we could that we did not pay as much for our child's meals (which I understood). Anyway, we were not trying to break the rules or get more than we paid for we were just going by what the cashier told us and what seemed to be allowed everywhere except the commisary, but I thought that might be info some of you going with kids would like to know. We have already decided next year dd will be 9 and we are just going to go ahead and get her an adult ticket so she can go on the adult dining plan if they will allow this, because the menus for children were just not that great even at most sit down resturaunts.

Interesting. We had the same type of experiences last year - to the point where I was almost annoyed at Flame Tree when the cashier would not let us order an adult meal for my DS. I guess we were spoiled up to that point. This year I am prepared and will do more sharing and OOP fill-ins.

We got the same response at Cosmic Rays when we went in March. They said they don't differ with the kids and adult meals. My kids got to order burgers with dessert. When we went over to Peco Bills it was a different story. So I guess some will let you and some won't. So if you get it thank your lucky stars and say nothing.

When I've wanted to order my DD something off the adult menu at CS (on DDP), what we've done is I order 2 adult meals (for DD and me) and my DM ordered her own, separately. Of course this was for the times when we didn't just order 2 adult meals and share them. When we didn't share, we always had too much food!

When the family and I went in January the same thing happened.

It was on the 2nd day we were there and we were eating at Pecos Bills. The cashier said the same thing--no distinction between kids and adults with CS, so go ahead and order an adult meal for older DD. This happened at Flame Tree, Electric Umbrella, and at Sassagoula Floatworks (POFQ Food Court).

The only time we had a problem was in MGM at the Commissary and that's when I paid OOP for her meal.

Oh well, my oldest DD will be almost 11 when we go in 2009, and my other DD is a chicken nugget kid, so it won't matter. I just find it funny that all the cashiers are not on the same page.

I ran into this same thing when we were there from 5/31/07 to 6/9/07. Some of the CMs were very helpful and told us to just order whatever meals we wanted because they didn't "technically substitute" meals for the kids meals. However, we went over to Pecos Bills and the CM was adamant and would not substitute a burger instead of their kids meal. So, I just paid for my son's burger separately and didn't use the dining plan.

I was like another poster, I wasn't trying to "rip off" Disney by using an adult counter service in the place of a kids counter service but the CM told me it didn't matter 'cause they didn't keep up with it separately.

When I went to our concierge desk to find out how many credits I had left (I couldn't find my last ticket), she didn't differentiate how many adult counter service and how many kids counter service. She had them all lumped together.
