Information please!!

My DS and his finance are planning to have a Disney wedding. She and her mom will be doing most of the actual planning, but her mom lives in Texas (she lives here in Mississippi) and has a hectic work schedule so its been hard for them to get down to planning. At this point they are really in the pre-pre-planning stages! Anyway there were some things we needed to know that would be helpful when she talks to her attendants and guests about being able to come to the wedding. Does Disney offer a discount of rooms for the wedding party and/or for the guests? If so, is it only at certain resorts? Is the discount for only the nights linked with the wedding or for the length of thier stay? And what about park tickets, if they plan to stay for a few days? Several of her and his attendants are married and need to know these things to budget for the trip. Thank you so much!!

Are you talking about a custom wedding or an intimate one? Disney offers a special wedding rate for custom weddings for all of your wedding guests. It's the same for the wedding party as it is for the rest of the guests. The bride will specify a few resorts and a range of dates for the room block. (The bride may choose any resorts she wants.) The discount will apply for all those nights. (Also, I found that guests arriving earlier or staying later had the discount for their whole stay. I'm not sure whether that's standard policy, though.) Another thing to note is that you may want to still look around at AAA and other discount offers, since they may be better than the wedding discount.

It has the discount rates that were in effect for our wedding a week or so ago. Rates will definitely vary by season, though. Hope I've answered your questions!

Thank you so much. Your info really helped. She is so nervous about even planning this wedding. She is trying so hard to please everyone and was worrying about what attending the wedding would cost everyone. Having an amount to start from will at least help. I told her that I would help her go on the disney web site and get some quotes for different lenghts of stay at the different priced resorts with park tickets. That way she can show the others the approximate amount. Now we can show them that there will also be a discount for at least part of their stay. Thanks again!

I totally understand how she's feeling. I was really worried about the cost for our guests, too. One thing that can really help for "singles" is to set them up as roommates. We managed to pair up all but one single guest, and everybody was really happy with their "roomies". Another Disney bride I know managed to negotiate a discount with AirTran airlines, to save her guests some money on the flight. She also researched available packages from AAA. Once she had found all the best deals, she sent out a newsletter to all her guests with the info. I was very impressed by all her work!
