I can't find anything on the websites except for the date and time. Anyone know where I can find more info?

Thanks!

Linzybrook,

At the bottom of the main disboards.com screen or at least towards the bottom is the WISH board. There is a sub-board that is for EVENTS/COMPETITION and you will find a lot of Disney Marathoners (half and full), Triathloners, you name it. The 5Kers, the Minnie Weekend Racers that's where they all hide out ;) You can get a lot of great info there.

They also have a weekly training thread and there are all levels so no worries for those wanting to check it out. You have those just starting up to those that have been doing it for years. I tend to lurk there more but everyone I've had the pleasure of dealing with has been greatly supportive and helpful in not only Disney races but other races as well.

And yes, the Half has reached capacity but if I recall correctly from the email they sent there might be spots still available thru the charities like say Team in Training. I did a quick check and if you look on the page for the Marathon Weekend on the Wide World of Sports there is a link to the page that lists the charities.

Hope your able to join in the fun for Marathon Weekend!!! :cheer2:

I just visited the marathon page; the Race and Half/Goofy's Challenge is full. According to their own website, the Half is only 80% full.

I wouldn't delay, though, if one were interested. I'm glad that 3/4 of my party is registered. I'm gonna have to kick some Tennessee Vol keister if my friend doesn't get registered before it fills, though!

Thanks so much! The half marathon is booked for this year but I'm going to try to book the 2008 half marathon as soon as possible!

What is this marathon, as we will be there when its on. Is it actually at Disneyworld.?? Will it be busy on the Sunday?? First timers, SORRY!!

You can run for a charity and still get in! In 2003, I decided I wanted to "run" late in the summer. That is how I got hooked on running for a cause!

Linzybrooke,

Check the Wide World of Sports page on Sunday of the Marathon in 2007 in case they load it early but it should open for registeration on Monday. In 2006 the registeration was listed as opening on 1-9-2006 Monday in the packets they had available at the Expo in Jan2006.

Now I swear I heard someone say that the regisration opened on Sunday 1-8-2006 while I was still at Disney. It's possible someone I was talking to while still vacation had checked the site to see their times online and found it up and available on Sunday 1-9-2006. Now will it be open on Sunday in 2007 I don't know but you could check.

As you saw the Half just reached it's capacity but for me and my friend we both prefer to just sign up and get it done with rather than worrying about paying for it later so we sign up with our 1st paychecks after we get home :teeth: Plus having it done is a force that keeps us true to our training (yup, we really need that push LOL)

If you are looking for a Disney race in 2006 keep in mind that the 2nd Minnie Marathon is scheduled and on the site open for registration. It's taking place in May and I believe it's the 1st weekend but can't remember exactly.

Be sure to check out the WISH Events group. They are an unbelievable resource. You have quite a few guys and gals who have completed these races (Minnie too!) and can get info on the courses.

Best of luck in your training!!!

*waves at Datsyukchick" I've seen you on the WISH Group :)

Hey Caltha!!!! :wave2:

You can find dates and times on Disney's Wide World of Sports page. When the page opens on the left side is a sidebar, click Head Line events and there is the button for WDW Marathon.

They do close done roads on Saturday morning and Sunday but they times you have to be thru certain areas. Like Saturday for the Half we had to be thru the Magic Kingdom by like 8 something. The races start at 6 am on both days. Mile 6.3 was just outside the MK after going thru it. I believe the MK is cleared of runners for the Half before it opens. But like AK, Epcot and MGM those parks will be open when the races is going thru. Epcot is the end for both races and the 1st year we ever saw a Marathon we were in the AK and I think we crossed the course once and at that point they have a CM telling you to wait and when there is a opening they will tell you to cross (preferrably quickly LMBO) this year the roll was reversed for me as I went thru Epcot and CM's held guests for us. Wild! LOL

The crowds in 2004 and 2005 weren't that bad due to the Marathon. In 2006 and I believe again in 2007 there will be more crowds due to when the holidays are falling. We came across people from Canada who's children didn't have to be back until the week after the races that or they decided to keep them out a few more days but they figured it would be better to go during that week leading to the race weekend and a few days after due to crowds being better than Christmas. We also met a nice family from Australia (sp? sorry if it's wrong!!!) who's teenagers were on their summer holiday. So it wasn't just Marathon Weekenders filling up the lines.

By Monday the crowds were thining but not empty by all means but a huge difference compared to when we arrived on Thursday and Friday. Tuesday and Wednesday were really nice. We departed on Thursday. Watch out for MLK weekend the following weekend. I've heard the crowds go up again for the long weekend. But how bad I have no idea.

Regardless for it's not THAT bad. It's not summer lines, nor Christmas week crowds. Be prepared for some waits and if they're not there it will be great but if not then your mindset will be there to deal with it.

It is a lovely time to visit so I hope if you are there during that time you have a wonderful time. The weather is typically lovely. We've need a coat a few times so do watch the weather as we get closer but it's comfy.

If you have kids they have kids races so check out the Wide World of Sports. I haven't had the pleasure of catching them in person but the bits of video I've seen are great!

There is also a 5K that will go thru MGM on Friday but it starts at 7 am I think and you have to do it with a 15 minute mile which means they should be done by 8 am but at least MGM will be cleared by the time it opens so it shouldn't affect other guests too badly. I'm hoping to sign up but 1st have to see how I do next month and if I get a strain again or not  Gotta save my legs/feet for the Half :teeth: The 5K is a new course for 2007 so it should be really kewl.

I'm sure someone else might have more info on how long it takes to get places on Sunday but I've only had the one encounter that 1st year with the Marathon in progress.

In 2006 we slept in, went to DTD to shop and have lunch and THEN headed to the MK since they were doing an evening version of Early Entry for resort guests. In 2007 we're going to sleep in and hope to get to Epcot around 11 am to start cheering on those going thru Epcot on their way to the finish line.

Anyways, enough of me gushing on and on about the weekend LOL

I hope if you come you'll enjoy yourselves as much as we have each January. Happy planning on your trip!!!!

Boy am I chatty today! LOL
