Yes johnsonet thank you so much - I had not even thought about looking at that menu option on the webpage - I figured Fitness Center - was just that - workout type gyms.

Now - to find a time and schedule a spa service!!!

Do you "spa experts" know if it is difficult to just walk in and sign up for a facial? I'm not sure if I can fit one in next week, so haven't booked, and was hoping that I may be able to call that morning, or something.

We've had a lot of availability the last couple of weeks, but I would still recommend calling ahead to book your appointment. We've been able to accommodate most same day appointments, so you should be fine about calling when you feel your schedule a little better.

Although the treatments are expensive, keep in mind that the therapist makes maybe about half of the treatment's cost. I have no idea about what percentage they actually make. I'm basing the 50% number on what therapists at my regular day spa here at home make...

In Resort Spa's, therapists generally make much less than 50%. There are a lot more hands in the pot so to speak at resort spas.

Hey, you're boss has to pay that mortgage in Windemere you know. At least she no longer is allowed to keep a portion of her employees tips--a little ole lawsuit settled that problem a few years back, eh?

OUCH, Aimee! I'm glad I tip 20% and round UP You guys deserve it. Especially when you're doing something like 6 massages in a row w/ no real break!

Aimme I had a question for you.

I see that the spas offer both traditional swedish massages and sports therapy massages. Do the massager therapists do a lot of sports therapy work with clients, or is it mostly the swedish relaxation massages?

Reason for the question is i work with 2 different massage people. They have different techniques, and each work their magic in a different way.

I have trigger points, and knots that pop up regularly, and have been a little afraid to try out one of the spas, since i perceived that the massage people did mostly sweddish type massages and not deep tissue work.
Any comments?

Another question, maybe Aimme or someone else can comment. I know that ohio the massage people are liscensed thru a state medical board. Where some states license it thru beauty services like hair, nails. Which is it in florida.
What type of liscense does the massage therapist have at the different wdw spas? Are they all liscensed, or are some in training?
What kind of experience level do most of the massage people have?
Are they mostly beginners (1-2 years exp) or are there people who have been doing it for 10-15 years on the staff?

My biggest fear is that i might get injured, or my muscles really irritated by someone who doesn't really know what they are doing.
Thats basically why i haven't gottena massage at disney.

Connie, I might have this a little off, but I have friends who are licensed massage therapists, astheticians, and nail technicians in the state of FL.

Massage therapists are required to go through a training regimen that's pretty intensive where they learn everything from skeletol-musculature anatomy to esthetics, then take state boards to get a license. The school must also be state certified.

Astheticians and nail techs also have required training, licensing exams, and continuing education requirements.

From what I've seen, everyone at Nikki Bryan is licensed and experienced in their field.

They do have true deep tissue and sports massages, my husband had one, although not all therapists are trained for them, so make sure you specify which you want when you book.

Massage therapist in Florida are both Nationally Certified and State Liscensed. We are licensed through the department of health as a healthcare practitioner. Most of the therapists at SSR where I am have been therapists for three or more years, and most are very good. Talk to the reservations staff when booking your appointment, and they can help schedule you with someone who will suit your needs. At SSR, we don't offer Sports Massage, but we can upgrade a Swedish to a deep tissue massage. There are some other treatments that you might enjoy, like hydrotherapy massage or hot stone.

It's tough to trust your body to a therapist that you aren't familiar with, especially if you are dealing with some chronic issues. If I can answer any more questions for you, please feel free

We are staying at the Beach Club so will probably use the facilities there if possible. But we do have a hire car to get to the GF or SS if needed.

Its just a big leap to switch to a new massage therapist when you have certain chronic issues. Just getting a relaxing massage is one, when there is work to be done, its something else.

I'll still be pondering whether to try one or not on our next visit.

I think you can book up to a year in advance for spa treatments. We are open every day of the year. You can take Disney Bus transportation to both SSR and GF via Downtown Disney.
