Information from DCL or lack of?

Yikes. Just watched a video from the UK staycation test cruise. It was like stepping back into last year with all the covid restrictions. We live in an area where everything is totally back to normal. Not sure I am interested in an august cruise from Florida if all those same restrictions are in place.

Sorry to hear that :sad1:

I also just watched a video from the UK staycation test cruise and had the opposite responds. It looks great, gives a feel of a normal cruise; we can't wait! We were on the last Wonder cruise last year and what I see them doing at the drink station, EyeScream, and Cabanas on the Magic is the way they adjusted it on the Wonder during the cruise, so we already got used to back that then. I love the sensor buttons by the doors and the elevators!

That said, with the first sailing 30 days out, and less then 60 days to my own booked cruise, I would love some information from DCL on the restrictions that will be in place on the Dream instead of us all looking at the Magic and guessing what would apply to the Dream/Fantasy.

Ditto. DCL needs to do a recalculation on their cruising plan if they think that these cruises are going to fly with many of their customers. I know that there will be people that will go no matter what, but what about the ones that will not. As these videos start hitting Youtube and people see masks and hear about the restrictions will they keep their reservations? I have heard that these ships need to sail at near capacity to be profitable. Will a 80% full cruise be profitable? Where is the cutoff percentage wise? Only DCL knows, but Chapek has made it clear that these divisions needs to be profitable to operate. I wonder what would fill the ships more 95/95 no restrictions no under 12 or restrictions that get broadcast all over Youtube. Once those videos get put up and negative reviews/perceptions start coming in it will hurt DCL for quite some time. I do not envy the people making these decisions.

I don't think you compare profitable/not profitable. You compare how much are they losing maintaining empty ships vs not full cruises

Any midnight check in luck?

We could check-in...or at least try. You have to upload photos of your passports and take a current picture of yourselves (to expedite things at the port, no doubt).

However, I'm sure given Disney's IT track record you will all be shocked to hear, it doesn't work. Or for the people who have been able to upload the photos, it has taken them 4-5 hours.

And I am sure everyone trying to do it at once because of the time factor does not help. Unless this is mandatory to upload, I will not spend 4-5 hours when/if our check in time comes.

Out of interest did it ask you to book slots for the show or kids clubs etc at the same time? (The 30 day mark has been for doing both that and check-in on the UK staycation sailings).

You can't complete the check-in and move on to a PAT without the uploads.

I agree. I know I wouldn't enjoy a cruise with those restrictions.

Are they asking to voluntarily identify vaccination status?

no, for the UK cruises being double vaccinated ie, having both doses is mandatory. As part of the advance online check in process, all passengers have to upload their vaccination status to a website, which is then verified at the port on embarkation day.

Just read they are not asking for vaccination status for august dream cruises.

I think you really hit the nail on the head on the factor that is going to impact these cruises. As more areas slip backwards and are starting asking people to go back to observing covid restrictions, will people who want to cruise even think twice about those restrcitions.

I think people EXPECT Disney to have these restrictions because so many of their passengers are unvaccinated children. Travel agents are reporting pent up demand for cruises has them selling fast. So, so far, not an issue.
Disney is pretty good at balancing profit with customer needs and wants. Look at the parks with the crazy high prices. They caused a drop in attendance, which is exactly what Disney wanted because it improved the experience for those there. And those happier guests spent more money, and Disney made more morning having fewer guests.

Do you recall when it asked you to take photos and upload if you can upload pictures of birth certificates and photo IDs instead of passport?
