Information for West Coast Cruisers!

[/B]I talked to DCL this morning to have some questions answered so that I could continue to make plans for my family. For those of you familiar with Port Canaveral, the airlines check luggage at the Port if you have Disney Transfers. That way you don't have to stand in line at the airport, everything is very simple and convenient. That is NOT the case in California. The airlines will not be able to check luggage at the port because of security issues at LAX.

We were planning on checking our luggage at the port and then taking the trolley to San Pedro for a few hours and then returning to the port and taking Disney Transfers to the airport and that is not an option now....

Also, they told me to expect to return to LAX no later than 1:00 to depart. She said she would definetly use 1:00 as a guide for any further plans.

We are going to go on a tour of LA, but I needed to know what time we could be picked up at the airport for the afternoon. Our flight out is not until 10:55pm and we didn't want to sit at the airport for that many hours - boring!!

So, I can say that I'm not surprised that the luggage transfers aren't happening on the West Coast cruises. There are (at least) 5 airports that one could possible fly out of and trying to coordinate who's luggage would go to what airport could be a nightmare. Maybe something they might think about if the boat is there all year round.

I am glad we opted for the 6pm flight out of LAX instead of the 1:15 - especially with the traffic in LA, you never really know how long it might take to get to the airport.

We are staying at Disney's Paradise Pier for 3 days before the cruise on June 4th...I wonder if they will handle the luggage from the hotel to the port?

We're staying at Disneyland Hotel the night before. I've been told that DCL will transport your luggage if you've booked transfers through them. Whether they'll pick it up at the room, or we'll have to bring it to the bus is left to be seen.

Yes, If you purchased Disney Transfers, they will handle your luggage. The airline, however, will not handle any luggage from the Port to LAX.
