Does anyone know of any really good informal wedding dress sites? I have tried a few but my idea of informal and theirs is very different. I don't want a train (since it is a vow renewal), but still want something "bridal" since my mom made me wear this horrible dress on my wedding day. I was looking through a few dresses online and found a few I liked, but my DD12 picked up the phone and told me she was calling the fashion police! The kid has got quite a sense of humor. I've been to a few bridal shops in Chicago, but when they hear informal they really tune me out. I've got quite a while yet, but just wanted to get an idea. I fell in love with a dress at a bridal shop that was all lace and pearls with very minute train, but when I looked at the tag it said $4,500. Too much for my budget. They refused to give me the designer or style #, so I'm stuck surfing the net which is giving me a headache.

What about JCrew? They have an absolutely beautiful dress that would be great, in my humble opinion. It runs $260 and comes in petite if you need. Here is what it looks like...

How about Jcpenny and cadwicks I've seen cute dresses there in past. My Bm dress came from chadwicks

www.Edenbridals.com has 63 different informal gowns all different styles. There is a store in Chicago that carries the informals line, Dimitras Bridals. The number is 312-787-0920. I saw Eden gowns when I was shopping for my gown and I don't think they were too expensive. Also the website houseofbrides.com has many gowns.

One of my best friends got a dress by Jessica McClintock. It was less than $200 and LOVELY! They had many styles of not too fussy dresses. You might also check in Marshall Fields, in their evening dresses. You may find something that is the style and length you are looking for.

Thanks for the help! That is a beautiful pic of the dress. I am going to check the sites and I'm also checking this week at Marshall Fields. I found a really pretty one online today too, but since I was at work I couldn't spend too much time looking before my boss would show up. lol.

Also Jessiangel, don't rule out Bridesmaid and Prom dresses. I also didn't want anything too formal and after bombing at many bridal stores, I decided to start looking in the bridesmaid and prom sections. I found the dress that is perfect for me at David's bridal. It is definately my personality.

Here's a <A HREF="http://www.davidsbridal.com/bridesmaids_dresses_dresses_detail.jsp?stid=1009&prodgroup=110">link</A> if you want to check it out.

I just wanted to suggest not to limit yourself to just looking at Bridal Dresses! Oh and most Bridesmaid dresses can be ordered in white and ivory anyways too!

Good luck!

My wedding dress was from J Crew as well. I LOVED it and they had a lot of nice dresses there. Good luck!

My friend picked out a very simple dress and brought it to a seamstress who added a few pearls and "sparkles" and it was beautiful!!!!!!

I know this is hard to believe but Vera Wang has some great bridesmaid dresses for @$300. I am getting married on the cruise line and bought a beautiful strapless column dress with a small mermaid tail. The dresses come in all colors and mine doesn't have single bead or piece of lace on it.
