Informal DIS meet for F&W and Half-marathon

We may do the 5k. DBF has an appt with the orthopaedic this Friday. His knee has been giving him trouble. So I guess we'll see after that.
I am the beginner runner...although not in horrible shape...just never got into distance running. For Dbf this will be a piece of cake! I think this would be an awesome time!

Did anyone hear anything about the 5k through Magic Kingdom on the 10/2. Dbf and I are maybe thinking about doing but can't find much info.

So excited about a dis meet. This will be the first time I am there when there is one...hopefully anyway.

We will be at CSR from 9/30- 10/3..then BCV 10/3-10/7

When I posted this I thought: "What about having a Disney Dessert Discovery Meet on Friday the 1st?"

Also new this year is “3D” Disney’s Dessert Discovery every Friday during the festival with sweets, cordials and wine with VIP viewing for IllumiNations. Tickets are $45 plus park admission. A wonderful way to end the day.

Then this morning, in the shower after my jog, I realized that anyone getting up to do or cheer the 5K may have to get up well before the rooster crows.

Well, I can swing a meet on 10/1 anytime in the afternoon/evening. Probably don't want it to be too late due to the 5Kers.

On 10/2 I plan to be in HS but could pop by Epcot anytime (Le Cellier lunch).

10/3 sleep in - MK and MNSSHP!!!!! I thin we've got several DISers and runners hitting that too!

10/4 this is the day I am planning on making my way around F&W.

My schedule is similar to yours.

Friday 10/1 we're picking up our packets and not staying out too late.
Saturday morning we'll be in the MK for the 5K, HS for an early dinner and then the main event in the evening.
Sunday I am planning on sleeping in until at least 9. MNSSHP that evening.

10/1 is our "pick up packet"/MNSSHP day. 10/2 we are sleeping in, wandering the parks and then the Half Marathon at night. 10/3 is pretty open until we leave mid-afternoon.

Would maybe a post race brunch work? We could either do a CS at epcot or a resort.

For the January event there is usually a dinner time WISH meet on the Friday before. That way they are early enough for anyone who is getting to bed early and late enough for people arriving that day to get in, get their packet, and still get to the meet. They are usually at a resort or DTD since some people don't go into the parks the day before the race.

Once you guys have something figured out let me know and I will make it if it is possible.

ETA: Some places that came to mind were AKL, POR and Wolfgang Puck Express. I have heard POR has a create your own pasta station in their food court which would be good for a pre-race meal. Wolfgang Puck Express, at least for the January event, always has some carb loading options also. AKL has a large lobby and that area just off the back of it that could be nice for a meet. They also have Boma which has a lot of good pre-race options.

I will be there for F&W from October 4-10. This is our second year for F&W and cannot wait for it.

I just so happen to have a 5pm ADR at Boma on 10/1. I'll give a call and see if they can accommodate a large group that night. If not I love WPExpress!

Browsing airfare in my spare time at work and I found airfare for coming from the Detroit area: Spirit has non-stop $49 tickets (some $27 if you belong to their club).

Not sure about other markets. I think I may keep my Southwest ressies as of right now....

I gave an initial estimate of 25 people. This is open to ALL DISers who would like to join us!

I am really looking forward to getting together with everyone and am still interested in a TATW meet up too!

Bummer The kids races are at 4:00, so we are out. We still need to set up a time to get our packet together! Soooo close now...well, close as in closer than it was yesterday, but still a few months away
