Coming down off a three-day high my attention has now turned to my next Disney vacation (Jan), and the one after that (Mar), and then the one after that
Food & Wine!

I know that some of my fellow DIS'ers are fans of the Food & Wine festival. Val & I have been going for years and plan on attending again in October 2010. I'm wondering if folks are interested in an casual meet.

We would have to iron out a bunch of details such as weekend vs mid-week and if you prefer early, mid or later October. But we have plenty of time to work that out.

Val & I did Columbus Day weekend plus a few days for the past couple of years, but I'm not sure that's optimum. F&W is crowded on weekends (those darned locals) and we found that the weekdays were the least crowded. But weekends do have the decided advantage of conserving vacation days.

So, anybody else have any preferences about this?

UPDATE 1/30/10
Taking in all the comments, and also considering the fact that there is a half-marathon that might attract a couple of our favorite DIS runners, its looking likely that we'll schedule this for the first weekend in October. I'm guessing right now that Val & I would fly in on 10/1 and leave on 10/5. Got to get going on DVC reservations and (of course) checking with work.

I booked a bounceback for the first week of October, but I also booked in May. I will only do one of the weeks and I am leaning toward the May date as of right now.

We are going sometime in October, but it all depends on when my cousin sets the date for his wedding. I am thinking his wedding will probably be Oct 23rd so we will probably be at WDW the week before, but not quite sure yet.

It looks like DH and I will be coming down for the Wine and Dine Half Marathon, the first weekend of Oct. We'd be doing a long weekend, because we're out of vacation time after our January WDW trip and our April DCL cruise!

Dh and I will be down for the first couple of weeks in Oct. and would be interested in a meet.
Ginamarie, I'm also doing the Food and Wine 1/2 Marathon, maybe I'll see you.

Count me in as another DISer planning on the Wine and Dine Half Marathon, so I should be down September 30-October 3.

I'm in but, you and Val already knew that.

I have a fairly flexible schedule.

Don't you mean townies? :) :)

Would love to do this but not something I can commit to right now. If we did go it would be early October 1st through 9th. My fiscal year closes in October so early in the month is the only thing that works for me.

Plus I'll be banking pts and saving for Ko Olina end of 2011. :woohoo:

Well, you know I'm all about the Food and Wine Festival.

Thanks for reminding me that I need to book my DVC before the 7 month window opens up for everyone.

I'm thinking my trip will be from October 9-17. Give or take. I haven't figured out if I want a trip that long. And I figure if my friend would consent to give me squatter's rights to her sofa bed, I could conserve points for the pre-cruise and post-cruise stays.

We have nothing officially booked as of yet but we tend to squeeze in a F&W weekend every year. We'll keep our eyes peeled for a meet.

Wish we could but DS is getting married Oct 9th which means no fall trip for me this year...

We would love to Jeff. We've never done F&W but I'm not sure it will be possible. :sad2:

We will be there from 10th Oct for 2 weeks!! count us in :-)

We seem to be a bit spread out on our plans here. Most folks are leaning towards the beginning of the month. Do folks have a preference for weekdays vs weekends?

For Val & I, right now I'm thinking of 10/7-11 which gives us a couple of weekdays to do F&W, but also takes advantage of the Columbus day weekend to conserve vacation time.

Keep those responses coming.
