It looks like they have some performers scheduled. The 12/31 is not in the Mardi Gras time frame, but the others are.

Here is the list

Sat 12/31/05 Gloria Gaynor

Sat 03/04/06 Bonnie Raitt

Sat 03/11/06 George Thorogood & The Destroyers
Sat 03/11/06 Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes

Sat 04/15/06 Kool & The Gang

Once again, Mardi Gras at Universal stretches to (at least) Easter weekend.

And once again, they're going old skool with the performers looking to draw in the 40 something crowd. Of coarse the event goes into April. It's funny how the actual Mardi Gras day happens in February, yet the celebration goes for 2 more months. At least this time it happens at the end of February, on the 28th. Otherwise most of you would never know the day happened.

Does anyone know if they usualy have two performers a night?

Who?

Throw us young'ins a bone, Uni.
He he. Y-100 is having their annual Jingle Ball down here in South Florida on December 17th. They do it every year. Try this link.

Here is their lineup so far. Will Smith, Ricky Martin, Shakira, Pussycat Dolls, Rihanna, Marcos Hernandez, Chris Brown, plus a few others to be announced. This is what the young kids are listening too. If USF had a headliner, plus another group each night, it would make the 20 something crowd come out.

You know, I'm actually in the 40-something crowd, but the best concert I saw during Mardi Gras at USF was a couple of years ago when Live performed. They were great. I really enjoy a good deal of the newer artists and would honestly prefer to see them perform than many of the "oldies but goodies." OTOH, I would love to see Bonnie Raitt at USF. She has continued to record new music over the years and would most certainly would not just be a trip down memory lane. Anyway, the blues never gets old, IMO.

I'd imagine that the older acts, (often falling into the has-been category  ), would cost less to book than the hot, new acts.

One way or the other, I'm looking forward to Mardi Gras at USF.

The Bonnie Raitt concert will actually be at Hard Rock Live and not in the park (therefore a seperate ticket available through Tickemaster).

On a side note, Gloria Gaynor is just one of several acts that will be appearing on the Plaza Stage at CityWalk on New Year's Eve along with live tv feeds from CityJazz.

Does anyone think that Universal will start the Mardi Gras celebration during President's weekend? I am hoping yes since I have 4 days booked at RPR. But if the parades and etc. start later in the month of February, maybe I will go cheapo and stay a couple of days extra at a Disney moderate since we plan to do 1 1/2 days at Sea World and 2 days at Universal.

Oh, I wonder if Emeril's or Tchoup Chop would have a special menu during the Mardi Gras celebration?

Mardi Gras usually seems to start the 1st or 2nd weekend of Feb.
