Asked WDW Guest services about High Speed Internet Access at the various resorts, and received this update:

Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World® Resort.

Payphones with large touch-screen displays and Internet-access capabilities have
been installed at locations throughout the Walt Disney World Resorts®

These Multimedia Guest Information and Public Internet Access Devices are
available in all four Walt Disney World® theme parks, several resorts and
various other locations on property to help guests find answers to questions and
access a variety of online services.

The devices offer free access to Disney-branded Web sites, such as Disney.com,
ESPN.com, ABC.com, and others. Guests also can use a touch-screen speed-dial
button and attached telephone to speak with representatives from Walt Disney
World Guest Services, Recreation Services and Dining Services.

Guests can use the devices to access the Internet and check their e-mail
accounts for 25 cents a minute with a four-minute minimum.

In-Room Internet Access(HSIA) will be available at the below listed Disney World

Disney's Coronado Springs Resort- October 1,2003

$9.95 for a contiguous 24 hour connection that will be charged to your room
account.

If you have questions or need further assistance, feel free to contact us.

Looks like all the DVC will be setup soon. Didn't someone post that VWL already had service installed?

Gee, nice of them to put SSR ahead of actual functioning resorts on their schedule.

I sent an e-mail a few weeks ago to member services and this is the response I got---

Dear Chris,

At this point high speed internet access is installed in 4 or 5 of the Walt
Disney World Resorts. We do not have a specific time frame for the Disney
Vacation Club Resorts. I can tell you that the next resort scheduled to have
high speed access installed is DISNEY'S BEACH CLUB VILLAS. Keep you eyes on the
Members Only web site for updates.

Have a great day,
Riley

I am not sure anyone knows when anything is going to happen, but since I heard that BWV was being done, I know they will have it sooner than some of the other resorts. Keep posting when you see it so we can get accurate info on this, I am interested in knowing when it is offered. $10 a day is pricy, but well worth it. I can transfer my pictures back to my computer at home, surf the net, etc. I had to use dial up last time I was there and it was torture to wait for the pages and e-mails.

Actually I can understand why SSR is ahead of the others. They are buiding it in instead of retro fitting. Almost all new hotels are being built with this feature.

I have used the high speed at BC and at Cornado. It works very well. It is $10 per 24 hours which is a better deal then the Marriott where it is $10 until check out the next day. So at Disney if I log on at 9 pm I have until 9 pm the next day. At Marriott if I log on at 9 pm I have until noon the next day.

For what it's worth, this information was in Deb Wills e-letter that came out today:

**************************************

High Speed Internet Access is being installed in many Walt Disney World resorts. In-room access is currently available at Coronado Springs, Yacht & Beach Club Resorts, the Contemporary, the Grand Floridian, and the Beach Club Villas. Tentative dates for bringing other resorts "up to speed" are:

BoardWalk (including DVC units) - February 9, 2004
Villas at the Wilderness Lodge - February 16, 2004
Old Key West - April 2, 2004
Saratoga Springs - April 29, 2004

Access requires a Local Area Network (LAN) cable. The price is $9.95 for 24 contiguous hours, charged to your room account.

******************************************

So I guess it all depends whose schedule is to be believed!

In any event, looks like the high speed access will be there this summer.
:)

I was at BWV January 30 to Feb 1. High speed internet access is already in the rooms and working.

I cannot see any reference to internet access in rooms in Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort hotel in this thread. Do rooms here have internet connection? I thought they did.

Since Caribbean Beach is not on the list provided, there probably are not plans to install service at that resort.

The only Moderate listed is Coronado Springs, and that does make some sense. CS has a business center, convention facilities and even a handful of suites. At $10 per day for high-speed access, a very high percentage of users is likely to be business travellers or folks who can afford the pricey Deluxe and Home Away From Home resorts.
