From the Orange County Register on Twitter.

They got a construction tour of the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout at DCA with Joe Rohde and Marvel's Joe Quesada. The ride will have multiple variations, rock n roll music from the movie, and will keep the same ride time and capacity. The setting is Tivan the Collector's museum where he is unveiling his latest collection the guardians of the galaxy. Visitors walk into a giant vault. The queue will feature other collections from the marvel universe. Visitors will also help Rocket who has escaped and is hiding in the vents, the goal is to free rocket and the other guardians. The riders will enter the elevator and turn off a generator, once the generator is off the elevator loses control. Joe Rohde says the ride will be high pace and frenetic. The elevator door may not always open it is random. The collection display will have tons of Easter eggs from Marvel movies, TV, and future things.

>>The attraction, officially named Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: Breakout!, is due to open sometime this summer. It replaces the free-fall ride Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, which disappeared into the fifth dimension earlier this year.<<

I'm super excited! A 5 second view of the parks while I'm way too anxious to look anyway is not something I will even think about while on it. This ride is all about the suspense. If you want a view, ride Mickey's Wheel of Death. :)

I'm really looking forward to all the Collector's stuff. Will this be after the Guardians movie? Has he recollected his collection after the Guardians trashed it? Is Howard still there? What about Laika? At least he doesn't still have an Infinity Stone.

I have to say that while I am sad about TOT and the store in the form it was being gone ( I really loved that store), this sounds really exciting and like it will be great!

Uh- the elevator door may not always open? I was coming around to being excited about this but knowing I could wait a couple hours & not even get to see the breathtaking glimpses of the Disneyland Resort?! Forget it. What a sad waste.

I had read somewhere that even when the doors open you would only see a screen with some effects, and that the opening that let's you view the entire resort is going to be closed up during construction. The new ride will be entirely indoors, no matter what the elevator does.

Fortunately there are still nice views to be had from Mickey's Fun Wheel.

Original rumors said it would not open at all. That the outside of the ride was being sealed with the new external décor.

That makes sense. But if it's a screen with special effects, I wonder why some of the sequences won't have it.

I am very excited about this ride. I enjoyed the theme of the TOT, but it sounds like they are doing a lot of randomization with this new ride. And this hopefully means they will be adding more Marvel. I'm not a huge Marvel fan, but more should mean new rides...we can hope.

This actually sounds like it could be really great. We will miss ToT, but at least we can still ride it at WDW, and having something different here in CA will be a bonus, particularly if it is *good*... which it sounds like it very well may be!

I'm excited :). Hope it's open in time for D23. I wonder what kind of gotg merch they'll have in the exit gift shop.

In my opinion, the tot merchandise was some of Disney's best and most creative. Hope they continue that with this ride.
