Hi everyone, my name is Anna and I am brand new to the DIS boards! I have looked around but never registered until now. I am getting married to my soul mate  and we have decided to have an Escape Wedding in the Wedding Pavilion on June 2009. We are both Disney fanatics and LOVE everything Disney. We did the College Program together (I was park greeter at DHS and he worked attractions in Fantasy Land at MK), we are still seasonal cast members in the same location, he proposed to me on the Wishes Cruise :cloud9: , our entire lives revolve around everything Disney.

I would love to hear all and any advice on this package. Some questions I have are:

Can they only book them 8 months in advance? I am scared that the date I want will be taken. But then I thought if no one can book until 8 months in advance then my date shouldn't be taken right?? :confused3

How is the cake/champagne reception?

Who did you have officiate the ceremony?

Who did you use for your hair/makeup?

I need ALL of the help I can get. I am so excited to learn a whole lot more on this board.

Hi Anna and welcome to the boards!! Good for you, I wish I was a CM!!! Sounds like such a fun job :)

Ok when I first booked my escape wedding I booked it at 7 months out..you can book at 8. Call at the year mark and I think they can pencil you in. I'm not sure if things have changed or not. You should be ok and able to get your date.

The cake reception was so nice. We were married at SBP and I loved how everything was set up. I think if you get married at the wedding pavilion they have the cake reception on some balcony at the GF...sorry I forget I just remember seeing a couple back in May of 07 when we were having our engagement pictures taken and the couple were on a balcony cutting thier cake.

Disney will give you a list of officiants when you get your planning kit and you will have to contact them yourself. I had Rev Tim Herring. I was going to use Jack Day but he was booked so he referred Tim Herring. We loved him! He has a great sense of humor and we were so comfortable with him.

Disney will also give you a list of stylist they recommend. I used Ana from Beaute Speciale. She is awesome, love her to death. here is her site.

If you want in my siggy is my wedding TR..I have some vendor reviews in there.

Also read some Planning journals on here. everybody has wonderful ideas and we all love to help.

Good luck with your planning and congratulations :)

Hi Anna, congratulations!!!

I'm not getting married until 2011, so am just here sucking up all the info I can!! I still can't decide between wishes and escape!!

I love reading peoples wedding trip reports and planning journals as they help SO much!! But if you do have any questions the ladies on here know EVERYTHING! So feel free to ask! :goodvibes

Hi Anna - welcome!

DH and I got married at the WP this April and had our cake cutting at the Commander's Terrace at the GF. It was fantastic! We booked it at 6 months and had no trouble getting our date or time - in fact we were the only wedding at the WP that day! Escape weddings can't be held on the weekends at the WP I don't think, and week days are way less competitive. You can call now and be penciled in and start some tentative planning. My TR is in my signature - feel free to look thru and see if anything in there helps you.

Oh, we used Rev Knox (well, his wife actually) and Beauty Speciale - both off the vendor list Disney sends.

Hi Anna and :welcome:

I would definitely call now and see if your date is available. You are only about nine months out now so who knows if they will "bend the rules" a bit for you!

We also used Rev. Kevin Knox and we were very pleased with him! We had customized our ceremony and he did it all perfectly...even added a bit of humor and charm!

Good luck and Congratulations!

I'm having an escape wedding as well...

I've booked Tim Herring to officiate and Ana from beaute Speciale for hair and makeup... HTH
