Tried search function, but it doesn't seem to be working.:confused3

We have a split ressie with the last 2 nights at BWV pref. 1Bdr. Thursday and Friday night.

I was wondering if there is a suggestion of what you can request as a location for the room. I know they can be either pool or garden view.

Since I couldn't get a boardwalk view booked:sad2: I would like to at least take full advantage of the pref view. I have 3 kiddies 5,7&10 that love to swim. I'm thinking that the closest proximity to the Luna pool would be a good request.

But I don't know if I'd rather be upstairs (better view?) or ground level (better access?). Other thought is maybe it's possible to request a boardwalk view upon check-in... maybe there's one avaliable? Or are there preferred views that are not considered officially BW but offer some small view of it anyway?:worship:

Second topic: We are assuming that with the evening xtra magic hrs schedulled for friday night, that we will be able to get through the IGW after the park closes. Any chance this will be closed for exiting? I know on my last trip to WDW I couldn't get back into the park after a late visit to BW.:guilty:

Third and last topic (I promise): We are planning a last, blow-out day on Friday for all the parks. Any suggestions for what order to do them in? Seeing as Epcot has the extra hours, we'll be doing that one last. Would it be good to start with a walk to MGM, then bus to AK, bus to MK and monorail to Epcot?

Any suggestions? Thanks :thumbsup2

Are you an DVC owner? I believe that the Boardwalk views are restricted to owners and not available to those renting points or through CRO. You can always request on Check - In but I wouldn't count on it.
In October we had a preferred view. We directly overlooked the quiet pool, with the canal behind it. In the distance was Hollywood Hills Hotel (the Tower of Terror.) I loved this view. It was relatively quiet, I watched the Launches on the canal, and I loved looking at ToT.
We were on the 4th floor. The nearest exit took us out near the Luna Park pool. I would prefer a higher floor, rather than ground level. I doubt that we would actually use the slider, left unlocked to go to the pool anyway.
As long as Epcot is open (or closing ;) ) you are able to exit from Epcot using the International Gateway. If it has EMH, you will be able to exit that way past park closing time. We have often left a fair amount after Illuminations ended (after a late dinner) with no problem at all.
Have a Great Trip

Yes, we are new owners. :cool1:

Your point about the slider is well taken... DH is a PO and would never allow it to stay unlocked if we are not in the room.

Sounds like I'll be requesting a higher room and take in the views.

Thanks:thumbsup2

A point of note we are going to be renting points for a trip in Nov and were able to book a Boardwalk view.

CRO can't reserve a boardwalk view but DVC members can get it with points and rent it.

Our favorite view to request is a first floor facing the quiet pool. Not so noisy and convenient to walk out your patio to the pool.

If we land in the middle wing then we are steps to both pools.

I don't want to stir the pot but did you tell them how many children? You want to be able to get 5 keys for EMH. With the ages of your children I too would request bottom floor by the quiet pool. You are steps away from the Rec Center which will really come in handy for quiet time and or while you are cooking etc.

what are the dates you are going? the Luna pool is currently under rehab till 2.15. if you are going soon.

The member who booked that Boardwalk view requested it and it is guaranteed. If it is not available, the best you can do is the Preferred Non-BW view. Which is garden (like the Boardwalk Green area) or a water view (canal, leisure pool or Luna Park).

as others have said BW view is a seperate booking catagory & available only to stays booked with DVC points (i had to waitlist when calling 10 months in advance, just to give you an idea of how popular it is ~ just don't want you to get your hopes up. also, upgrades are extremelly rare with DVC, so just count on a beautiful pool/garden view:thumbsup2 ).

don't know when your trip is, but:
luna park is closed thru 2/13 (you may use the BC/YC pool during that time)
the "quiet pool" will be closed 4/21 thro 5/9

so request view of whichever pool is open is you want a pool view.

most importantly ~ you are going to love the BWVs!! it's our fav resort (DVC or not)......there is just so much to see & do!
have a wonderful time

DVC accepts reservations for 5 in a 1 bedroom. They will get 5 keys.

Also, reports are coming in that the Luna Park pool is indeed open. Much earlier than anticipated.

Thanks for all the replies, I will be very pleased with wherever they put us in march. But sounds like near the pool might make a lot of sense and I won't worry about not having a boardwalk view. Maybe someday, we definately plan to stay at BWV again. :lovestruc

As far as the 3 kids go, there's no problem booking a 1bdr. :thumbsup2

Yes, it is. They reopened it the day before I checked out, which would have been the 23rd. My first thought was I hoped they really turned the heater on or that water would be coooooold.:scared1:

I had a 1BR on the 4th floor overlooking the quiet pool, and really enjoyed it.

Your only problem is you still only get one king sized bed and one queen sized sleeper sofa. Plus only four bath towels, two hand towels and four face cloths. You have to provide what you need for the fifth person. DVC won't.

CRO will not put five in a DVC one bedroom villa unless one is under the age of three.

We just came back from a week in a BWV 1BR last night...and yes, the pool/slide were open. Never saw the pool bar (Leaping Libations) open though.

I'd ask for a room on a low floor and/or close to an exit - stairs or an elevator...the hallways are KILLER!! We were in room 5012, which was a preferred/garden view and we had a view of the Swan and MGM...err...Hollywood Studios. The view was nice though. The balcony was uncovered though so couldn't go out there in the rain. Another reason to consider a lower floor.

The room was nice, very clean. We didn't have sliding doors-double doors that opened.

But again, the walk to/from the room - either from the elevators up from the Lobby/Boardwalk or from the stairs coming from MGM was exhausting. Knocked my little guy out after a long day at the parks.

The bus service to AK stinks though as it takes forever and is packed due to stopping at YC, BC, Swan and Dolphin as well, so I'd recommend taking a cab to AK.

As far as getting to the Studios...go out the back door, over the walkway to the Swan and get the boat there, that way the next stop is the park. Otherwise you have to stop at the other Epcot resorts.

The Boardwalk at night was fun - my son LOVED the magicians and the pizza window at Spoodles was good to have - and yummy too, as far as Disney pizza goes.

Also - on a security note....

Keep your room locked and your valuables in the safe.

I am a smoker and as such, had to go down the stairs and outside to smoke and the door to the outside doesn't lock. There's a sign that says you have to have a room key to enter from 8pm to 8am, but it was never locked...not at 11pm and not at 5am or any hours in between. Also, the catch on the lock on our door to the balcony was broken so even though it locked, it wasn't the most secure lock. I'd just use some caution to be on the safe side.

I was concerned that anyone could come through that door at any hour off the street and no one would know it - day or night.

One other thing - and this may depend on the day you're checking out, but housekeeping started knocking on the door and trying to get in by 8am on our check out day. We had no "do not disturb" sign in the room to hang out so again, keep that bar across your door!! I finally told the lady we needed about another 1/2 hour and she paced back and forth in front of our door until we finally left.:headache:

Mousekeeping at OKW the week before gave 2 quick knocks and walked right in on our check out day and there I was, half naked and mad as a hornet...again, no Do Not Disturb sign in the room. Where are they all??:confused3

Enjoy your stay though...The Boardwalk's a lovely resort.

I had a Privacy Please sign for my door at BWV the last couple weeks. The only issue I had was someone turned it over to the Please Service Room side one day, and someone knocked at the door early. But I had the deadbolt and the bar closed, so they couldn't come in.

Any time I haven't had a Privacy Please sign, I've asked for one right away. I like to have it out any time I'm in the room, and only take it off if I go out.

So, Lauralee, did you notify maintenance about the non-functioning locks? We had a bad patio door lock on our first stay at BCV. I called maintenance, they were there in about 15 minutes to fix the lock. No problems with an insecure door after that.

How come the new vacation planner says the one bedroom "sleeps up to 4"?
Because, officially, that's all they sleep except for some one bedrooms at AKV which have included a twin sized sleeper chair in the living room with the queen sized sleeper sofa.

DVC has allowed a fifth person (but not a sixth even if the sixth was under the age of three) in one bedroom villas, but they do not provide the fifth bath towel or the fifth face cloth or any extra bed linens. Maybe when Kidani Village opens, DVC will go back to only four in the one bedroom unless the fifth one is a child under the age of three.
