We have stayed at the Poly several times but we have a trip coming up in October with my entire family and my mom requires an accessible room. I booked them a wheelchair accessible TPV room, which apparently there may only be 1, possibly 2, at the entire resort. I was just wondering if anyone could enlighten me on where this room may possibly be located? I assume either Tuvalu or Aoteroa, as it wasn't booked as a club level room, but if anyone has any information (or photos!), it would be great!

The description on her reservation says Theme Park - Wheelchair Accessible tub - Hearing option. I checked out Tikiman's site, but didn't really see any rooms that fit this description. In fact, I saw no mention of roll in tubs at all.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

If you look on Touring Plans, in their hotel view section, you should be able to find the location of the rooms.

I haven't stayed at the Poly but there are no "roll-in tubs" at WDW. From the description, it sounds like the room reserved has an "accessible tub" which means there will be grab bars at the tub and toilet, possibly a transfer bench or shelf. Depending on her preference, you may be better off renting transfer bench from an offsite vendor. If she really needs a roll-in shower (rather than a tub), you need to reserve a room that specifies that.

Enjoy your vacation!

Each of my longhouse pages has some facts about the longhouse on the top right. There is a section that shows the room numbers of any Handicap Accessible rooms available in that longhouse. Aotearoa has 3 that are for the hearing impaired and 3 that are rooms with tub rails with one of those being a Theme Park View. No roll in showers. Tuvalu has only two hearing impaired rooms and no other Handicap Accessible rooms. Hawaii Club Level has Theme Park View rooms with Tub rails but only one room with a roll in shower and it is Garden View Club Level. There are no roll in showers in any of the Theme Park View or Lagoon View rooms at the resort. There use to be before Tahiti was converted to DVC. You can see where all the Handicap Accessible rooms are on each of my Longhouse maps and the key above will tell you what type of room they are.

Unfortunately that tool is extremely inaccurate when it comes to room amenities and room configurations.

That hasn't been my experience. In fact, if you put OP's room description in the tool, the only room that pops up is the one Tikiman mentioned in Aotearoa.

I wasn't saying that every room is wrong. But it is wrong more often than right.

My mom also requires a handicapped-accessible room, and there are very few with roll-in showers on Disney property. Like the previous poster said, there's no such thing as a roll-in tub at Disney World. Your mother will need to be able to lift her legs over the edge of the standard-height bathtub in order to step in and out of the "accessible" tub - the only thing that makes it "accessible" is there will be a grab bar to help her balance. If that's all she needs, then great. If she needs a roll-in shower, you need to specify that when you call to book a room. (And good luck getting one!) :)

We wound up booking my parents at the B Resort at Disney Springs because they had accessible rooms available for when we were looking to travel together. Disney resorts did not have availability with a roll-in shower when we're arriving (November).

Well this is very disappointing newss because I was VERY specific when I made the reservation about what we required. The CM repeatedly said that it was a roll in tub, which is also what the reservation says. I booked in September 2015 for October 2016.
When I started really looking, that's what prompted me to ask because what we were told at booking apparently doesn't exist. Rails on a tub really won't meet her needs I'm afraid. Guess I'll do some more research. Thanks for all the responses!

**ETA I didn't mean to imply that Tikiman or the other sites didn't have accurate information - I just wasn't finding what I thought I had booked, which led to my question.

One more question...do they have shower seats or no? I saw it mentioned there *might* be a transfer seat or shelf - how will I know? I have never stayed in an accessible room with her anywhere that didn't have a shower seat in it. Will we really need to rent one? I would just like to have it handled ahead of time if necessary. Thanks!

They are available upon request, first-come first-served, and inventory may vary by resort. But I'll put another caveat to that... it may or may not be the style she likes/prefers and/or may not be in the best condition (I've read reports of loose bolts, etc.). It is recommended that anyone who needs such an item, it's best to rent from an offsite vendor such as Care Medical who will deliver it to your resort and you'll know that you'll have exactly what she needs.

So sorry the phone CM didn't understand your requests. I believe the description of that room indicates "accessible tub" and possibly the CM assumed accessible means "roll-in." That doesn't excuse her lack of clarifying both your request and what is available. I'm glad you are questioning it now so you have time to make arrangements before your trip.

Enjoy your vacation!

Thank you so much for the information! I understand what you mean now about wheelchair accessible. I guess I just had it in my mind since that's what I was told. We will make it work, I'm sure!

I take my 88yo mom to WDW once or twice a year and she also needs a roll-in shower. The roll-in showers do have seats built into them. We have had the roll-in shower rooms at all of the value resorts and at Port Orleans Riverside. You may need to call and confirm your room request and explain that you need the roll-in shower option.

You can see a photo of the roll in shower on my page here. It has a place to sit.
