Info needed on baby food

Does any one out there know if you can buy UK infant formula (particularly cow and gate) in the US. This would save me having to take the great big tubs with me.

If not, how does it work taking in the hold? I have visions of security confiscating it (as happened to my sisters' icing sugar - don't ask!). Even if they don't confiscate it, I don't really like the thought of them opening the pot, when it should still be sterile for my young baby. I was thinking of decanting the formula into ziplock bags to save on space and weight, but wasn't sure that would work with security.

Does any one know how this all works or have any advice?

We took Ds when he was a baby and used the little sachets of formula for the trip and got cooled boiled water from the cabin crew added to his bottles we took enough of them to last the trip. We did see similar ones in Publix but your going back years here and I know some of the USA ones are just not the same as ours.

You won't be able to get any UK brands over there with regard to milk powder, on the last two occasions we have taken our own, I wouldn't recommend decanting it into bags either, this could look like drugs and I would have thought you would be more likely to have problems (this would definatley make the powder unsterile too) the tins of dried powder are usually sealed with a metal seal so I doubt that security would open them.

Tubs of unopened SMA were fine for us. They didn't ask but I did mention it when checking in to make sure it was noted that it was there.

I've never seen uk brands over there either.

They do not sell Cow & Gate or SMA looked in November. They sell Gerber in Walmart and Publix. Take your own in your suitcase.

Hi,
I don't know about Cow & Gate but I took the SMA gold sachets. They work out a little more expensive than the big tubs but as they're all pre measured I thought they were great. I also took some ready made cartons, again just for ease. Just think of all the extra space you'll have in your suitcase when you come home!
