Do I have this info correct?

I'll be headed to DLR on May 10th, Thursday. We'll be at the parks until the 14th, Monday [we have a 5 day hopper]. That Saturday [the 12th] is a blackout date for Deluxe AP. So the upgrade needs to happen AFTER the 12th, correct?

No other way around it other than paying the blackout day entrance fee if I upgraded it earlier? [how much is the blackout day fee?] Just wondering what options I have since the AP has some discounts I would like to use.

Also, since it's our first AP, we need to go to the Bank to upgrade and take pictures for the passes, correct? [so we cannot do this at guest relations outside of the park?] I also heard that the lines can be really long. When is the best time to go? Can we do this at DCA? If we stood in line at the end of the day will they serve everyone in line before closing?

Thank you in advance! :goodvibes

Also, what size is the AP? I want to make a little wallet and need the measurements. Are they the same size as the hoppers?

You can upgrade on the black out day and still get in the parks without paying the fee. If you do this, I recomend you keep your receipt with you if you leave or park hop. I needed mine to get back in. The a/p will be back dated to the first day you used your hopper. If you decide to upgrade sooner and need to pay the black out fee its $30 and can only be purchased that day, not in advance. You'll need the blackout ticket and a/p to get in the park. Be sure you've used your early entry before you upgrade, if you dont, you'll loose it.

I recomend going to the bank first thing in the AM. I did it on a Saturday morning and there was only one person in line ahead of me. And if you do it in the morning, you'll be able to get your dining discounts all day long!

It is the same size as a credit card.

I'm pretty sure the bank in DL is the only place to upgrade. When we went, the line was pretty long, but it moved surprisingly fast. There was a cast member who gave us an estimate of the time it would take as we entered the line, and he was spot on!

Something to keep in mind regarding discounts is that some of them are available through AAA or Disney Visa. Also, you only need one AP for a discount, so if you really feel like you are going to use up over $30 worth of discounts before Sat. , you could upgrade one earlier. I also agree with hlbtimes2 recommendation to use you EE before you upgrade.

Thank you both!

Wow, really? You can enter in with hoppers on a blackout date and upgrade that day? COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cool1:

The ap pass is the size of a credit card.

I have a question along the lines of upgrading hoppers to annual passes. I am sure this is probably out of the question, but I thought I would throw it out there anyways. My family and I will be using the face value of our hoppers to upgrade on the last day of our trip. My mom & sister will be going with us as well and will each have a 5 day hopper, however they will not be upgrading theirs. I dont suppose they would allow me to also use the face value of those 2 hopper passes (159 ea) toward the upgrade cost of converting the AP's for my family? Does anyone know for sure?

Thanks.

Do you mean can they add the $159 in addition to existing tickets (like you are getting 5 AP's but are hoping to use the value of 7 park hoppers?). If that's what you mean, then no. Each ticket can only be used towards one AP. You can't combine.

Is there any reason you are chosing to upgrade on your last day? I'd suggest doing it earlier (as long as it won't mess you up with possible blackout days). If blackout days aren't a factor, I'd suggest doing your earliest possible EE chance and then upgrading later that day. That way you still get your EE (no EE on APs) and still can use your AP for discounts on food and merchandise (if you get a Premium).

Thanks mom2. That was exactly my question. I pretty much knew the answer would be a big no, but I thought I would see anyways, just in case. But darn, wouldnt that be great if we could do that. Thanks again.
