Info needed about space in rental van.

We are trying to figure out if we will all fit(plus our luggage) in a rental minivan for our upcoming vacation. There will be 6 of us (4 adults, 2 kids) and probably 6-8 small/midsize suitcases. I know most of the rental agencies have dodge caravans and I am not familiar with the cargo area of these type of vans. We probably can put down one of the back split seats. Do you think we would all fit with the luggage? We have about a 2 hour drive from Charleston to Hilton Head. Thanks for your help!

We own a Caravan (02) and drove to Myrtle Beach from NJ. There was 5 of us (2 adults, 3 teens). We each brought a medium to large suitcase plus baseball gear and a couple of coolers. It worked out ok for us, although we did put stuff under the back seat (which is a bench, not split in the '02) and in between the 2nd row (captain's seats). This is one reason I am reluctant to sell my van...it is a great traveling van (and my whole family agrees).

Does anyone have any experience fitting the luggage in a newer model caravan? I know they have changed it and am not familiar with the newer style. We are renting thru Budget. Are the caravans what the tend to have the most of? Is there a better one for us size wise?
