Hi all. Just wanted to add info that I found out last night. I called the CC number, because I had a question about our upcoming cruise,(I know it is still over 300 days but who's counting:bounce: :bounce: )
I talked with a CM and asked a question about the documents. It led to the famous "FedEx" question. I was told that DCL had just switched from FedEx to UPS about a week and half ago. He also told me that UPS does not require a signature, so they will leave them at the door.
That will be alot easier I know for me, since my DH works first shift, my DS will be at school, and I will be at my classes at my school.:smooth:
I will hopefully be graduating one week before my cruise, so that is one less thing to worry about.:jester:
Hope all of you have a great day!!!!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

It's funny hearing that Fex Ex requires a signature. We have cruised 3 times and I was never at home when he arrived. But our docs were always left at the door. I guess that's one of the advantages of living in the country.

Thanks for the info. That means that I know need to bug the brown truck instead of the Fed-Ex man!:jester:

We live out in the country too, but both times I had to sign for our documents. Both times I was worried I wouldn't be home when the FedEx man came, but both times I was home so it worked out well. :D

Carnival uses the regular mail service. Maybe that's all right most of the time, but for our cruise with them we had been told we would receive our documents around the 12th of Dec. but it was actually New Year's Eve before we finally received them. I had called about them, as I was getting concerned we wouldn't have them by the time we left (1/7) and the rep I spoke to wasn't very nice but did say he would send a second set. The second set was waiting for us when we got home. I guess all the Chrismtas cards people were mailing were more important than our cruise documents, since it took so long to get them.

Whether to leave a package is left up to the discretion of the UPS driver. If he/she thinks its safe and/or appropriate, then they will, otherwise they'll leave a "delivery attempted" sticker.

My SIL ordered some pants from Victoria's Secret, and the UPS driver wouldn't leave them because he knew kids lived there and he didn't want them opening up something "inappropriate" for them. Boy was she upset!!

Joye, it sounds like your SIL has a very thoughtful UPS driver. Mine just plops the stuff down by the door, rings the bell once and leaves! I wanted to give him a tip at Christmas, because we had so many deliveries, but there was no way I was going to chase his truck down the street!

My documents just came in a regular 'ol mail delivery. No UPS, no FedEx, no signature..... The TA this time assured me they will come FedEx for safety and tracking.

At least he leaves the package. We had a FedEx guy ring the bell the other day and was almost in his truck again when my husband answered the door (got straight up from the couch and walked over to the door). There was already a note on the door saying "Attempted delivery, will attempt again tomorrow." When he saw my husband, he kinda waved and THEN went to get the package out of the back of the truck and bring it back. He hadn't even brought the package to the door the first time when he did his "ring and run!" Just assumed no one was home because it was the middle of the day.

Geez...

With a smile on his face, the UPS man delivered our docs last week! He could tell I was VERY happy about receiving this delivery!:bounce:

Having worked for UPS years ago I know that if you are not home and you worry that they will not leave your package because no one is home you can authorize them with a note on your door telling them you give them permission to "doorstep" your package. The only downside is that if it gets stolen you have no recourse since you authorized them to leave it. We have gone Disney once and our tickets were left without a signature by Fed Ex as well...and I was home. I went to the door ready to sign and he just turned and walked away. Someone once told me that if there are air tickets they require a signature but if it is just cruise docs they dont. I dont know how true that is. They say that if you dont get your cruise tickets you can just show ID at the port and board but they wont let you do that at the airlines so that is why they usually always require a sig if you have air tickets in there and not always when you have just cruise only tickets. When we have gone on our Carnival Cruises we have ALWAYS gotten our tickets by UPS and NEVER EVER by mail. We have booked directly through Carnival and also a .com agency as well as a travel agency and all the trips we have always gotten them UPS. We have been on more than 10 carnival cruises in the last 5 years and have yet to receive them by mail...so Chatty you must have just had an odd bur really nerve wracking experience I am sure. My parents have always received Carnival docs by UPS as well.
