Hi, Just wondering if someone could give me a little info about flying out of Buffalo using Southwest. I just downloaded ding. We would be flying out Jan.1. Are their many non-stop flights? Are seats assigned? Are most flights in the early a.m. Are there other fees on top of the cost of the flight?
Thanks very much

they have at least two non stops a day

( saturdays later this year they seem to have 3 nonstops....check a saturday in november/december to see )

...just checked and they do have "three" non stops for saturday jan 6 coming back from Orlando ( would seem that they have added extra capacity for saturday flights )

jan 1 for a ding might be a stretch

( although flying on the actual holiday is sometimes cheaper than the shoulder days around it )

.....just looking now and it seems the two lowest fare classes are unavailable at the moment

there is no assigned seating on SW as of now ( they are test running some assigned seating out of san diego, but do not expect to see anything happening at least until 2008 if ever )

the early morning flight is usually out around 7ish and you are on the ground by 10ish

you can add approximately 17 $ to the advertised rate per person ( 6$ PFC 5$ Security fee then taxes which are in the 6$ range even for 39$ and 49$ flights which we have for september )...so a round trip for 59$ would come out to approx 135$ per person ( no other fees )

of course you might have to drive down the night before stay at a hotel and park your car or use the airport parking, then there are other fees.....since we live about 30 minutes from the airport we usually just have family members drop us off and pick us up....

They have 3-5 flights a day on most days. The 7am flight is usually non stop. Mid day flights usually have a stopover. Seats are not assigned. It's open seating.

For our Sept 30 flight taxes and fees total $13 on top of the fare.

you must have got a heck of a deal if they only added 13$ fees on top of the rate...

just figuring in the Passenger Facility Charge and Security Fees comes to 11$ for r/t buf/mco.....per person

even when we were lucky enough to get the 29$ rate a year or so ago, the cost was 58 + 17 =75$ r/t

I just went back to the website and checked $13 each way, I think the base fare was $54.
