Info about crowds starting week of 8/21

The Disney.com site does not show the Spectromagic parade on Thursday, 8/25 but instead on Friday 8/26. That is a change from previous schedules listed on the Disney Website.

Another New Englander going at that time! Just changed an ADR today with no problem!

Single digit dancing!!!!

I am from CT, leaving 8/22. Maybe so many of us New Englanders are going now because we are one of the few areas in the country where school :teacher: doesn't start until late Aug./early Sept. Most southern states are already back in school. I'm hoping this will cut down on crowds a bit.

Good point......

And just to update I called again today and was told the hours for the H & V fantasmic package for later than 4:30 have not been released yet which explains why nothing was available. I am trying to pay for this to reserve our slot at Fantasmic but maybe it won't even be necessary! Hopefully the crowds will be better than I thought.
I just got off with Dining and they had a whole bunch of Fantasmic Packages at all the restaurants, we got ours for 8/25 at 6 p.m.

its like a new england role call! woohoo can you stand it???? I didnt have any trouble with my ressies and I made a change to them last week.
I'm a former New Englander going that week-does that count? Brought up in Massachusetts for many, many years 'til DH dragged me down here-think of how much more fun the flight would be for me if I was still there. Instead, I'm going solo from way down here.
Yes, I'm also very upset about the changes. I made an ADR at CRT for Thursday that week-MK was supposed to be open til 10:00 and show Spectro. Now they've changed it and I figure I probably can't get an ADR on a different day so I'm stuck with it-grumble, grumble. Oh, well, I'll still enjoy CRT, but I hate these last minute changes.

Hey everyone I just wanted to say again that I'll be there during that time frame too but I a southerner... Anyway I hope everyone will be wearing their lime mickeys!! I think I will be watching the disney calendar up to the day before I leave because they will change it again if they are expecting a larger crowd, they did that earlier this year when we went...

Another New Englander checking in! :cool1:

We will be there the 19th - 28th and the kids go back to school the 30th...nothing like the last minute! :)

This will be our longest vacation yet - 9 nights at 3 different resorts - yahoo!

See you all there! :)

Oh, I agree with you-I will be checking the schedules right up until we leave-and then as soon as we get the info at check-in!Lime green mickey's sitting here on my desk ready to be put on our backpack!!

14 days and counting! :hourglass

We're leaving for WDW at 10ish on 8/21 SWA. Anybody else?

As a former New Englander (CT), I am happy to see so many New Englanders going at the same time as I am! I called last week for ADR's and had no trouble, but I didn't have much choice of times at Brown Derby for the Fantasmic package. I'll be looking for your lime green! 9 days to go and I'm all packed already.

I agree with Pooh, NE seems to be one of the few areas that don't start school in mid-August. We messed up when we checked the school calendar and only noticed after we bought our airline tickets that the kids will be missing the first day of school. The schools have all been notified and are OK with it, but my youngest will miss his first day of Kindergarten. :guilty:

We are flying out of Hartford on 8/24 and returning 8/30.

What's with the lime green Mickey's? Is it some way to identify ourselves as DISer's?

Let's hope we all have fun, safe trips. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I booked my trip well before they announced the free dining plan. My family is going 8/17 - 8/24, so we'll be there before the dining deal kicks in, and just after. I couldn't reschedule the trip to take advantage of the free dining because the kids start school on 8/25. I still think the dining plan is a great deal for my family, even though I'm paying for it!

We first assumed that it would be more crowded at the beginning of our trip, and less crowded at the end. Now, I think it will be just the opposite! :confused3

I had no problem with ADRs, but then again, I did book them in May! I was able to get a 6:00 ADR every night of the week.

Just 8 more days until my first Disney trip since New Year's Day 1986!!! :hourglass

I've been a lurker for about a month now. Just saw post about dining with dates before and after Aug. 21. We'll be arriving before Aug 21 and leaving Aug.*25. I cancelled the last four nights of my original reservation (rooms only) and booked package with free dining last 4 days. Had to get an extra one day ticket for everyone that we won't need this time (oh well, future trip begins) but worth it for free dining.

Hi! We will also be there the week of Aug 12 - Aug 26, staying at POP, and taking advantage of free dining. I am hoping for manageable crowds as well!

Bluejasmine....another Southerner here! Hope to see y'all there! :sunny:

I think it is going to be busier than it has been in the past on thoes dates, but yet not all to busy. I just made my dinning plans two days ago and got all the resturaunts that I wanted, except for one. And that is with less than two weeks til the trip. :cool1: All my dinning times were between 5:00 and 6:00, we like to eat ealier, and we got all the times exactly when we wanted them. The only one we could not get was Le Cellier, but we ended up getting the Yachtmens (sp?) Club Steakhouse instead; the YC still was wide open for that day too! Now I have never done PS seating before, or even have done an extended stay at WDW, but from what I have read before about how hard it is to get PS so late in the game, I even got Cinderlla's Royal Table!, and it not being all that hard for me to get what I wanted, I think the crowds are going to be just alright. Maybe a little more crowded than say, the week after Labor Day, but deffientley a lot lighter than July or the weeks before.

Wes

Let's hope my theory is correct! :earseek:
