Inflated Wait Times at Park Closing **WDW Newbies Please Read**

It will be interesting to see if the inflated times continues now that so many people are doing genie. On my previous 3 trips since October there was always major inflation. Yesterday every single ride was either spot on or underestimated.

This has been our strategy for years. It's fun. The park is closed so you're not wasting park time. We have PH and go for a headliner. Smugglers Run sold beer in line Pre-Pandemic. It's the best way to ride Avatar in AK. This was how we got an extra ride on TSM all those years ago.
June 2021 FOP posted 45 (30 mins before close) but actual was 60 mins. It’s a bit easier to judge if the line has an outdoor queue, but with indoors queues that are made to handle an hours wait it’s hard to estimate. MMRR is usually inflated if there is a short outdoor queue (paging Mr Morrow’s review). Post Genie+ ride waits are consistently inflated by at least 15 mins.

For DAS the ride times were inflated+CMs add 15-30 mins extra (with rider switch we were at a ride for 2 hrs). Fortunately we don’t have to use that again.

I checked the Touring Plans stats from yesterday to see how things are going.

For Rise of the the Resistance, the posted wait about a half hour before closing time was 55 minutes, with an actual reported wait of 20 minutes.

It had been up to 205 minutes earlier in the day.

Has anyone gotten on Remy at park close? Curious if it being new and right by IG makes it more crowded at park close than others.

We’ll be relying on the skyliner and I know it closes within an hour of the park closing.

To be honest, inflated wait times (example: estimated wait time is 120 minutes when actual wait time is 30 minutes) means that those who have conditions (such as Autism) that need the DAS pass end up waiting a lot longer than those who are able to physically stand and physically stand and wait in line because the return time is based on the posted estimated wait time in the standby line and to be honest, these wait times need to be in the hall park of the actual wait time. I just wish they do away with Lightning Lane and require everyone to wait in the standby line (except for those with disabilities who genuinely need the DAS pass since they wait just as long elsewhere in the park) regardless of how affluent they are. When I was a kid, there was no such thing as Fast Pass or Lightning Lane and I stood and waited in lines and still had a blast.

Also keep an eye on the Skyliner times posted in each station. I noticed during our recent trip that it was open 90 mins after park closing. Not sure how often that happens.

Joining Remy closer to park closing could be a great option as long as it moves well. When we were at Epcot a few weeks ago we took our time leaving the park after it closed and the Skyliner line still stretched back towards Beach Club. My feet were toast so we grabbed a spot on a bench and waited for the line to reach us. Was a great decision although it broke down twice which 15+ min delays each time. Epcot closed at 9:00. Watched Harmonious from over near Mexico. Strolled to Skyliner. Entered our room at Pop close to 11:00.

I checked the Remy stats from last night on Touring Plans. 10 minutes before close, the posted wait was 30 minutes with an actual wait of 15. It had been up to 135 earlier in the day. Not too bad.

I was excited for this at HS Friday night. Joined TOT right before closing with a posted wait of 120 minutes. We did wait almost 60. So it was MUCH less than posted, but still really long! Disappointing haha

Last night Peter Pan’s Flight had a posted 65 minute wait an hour before closing. I have never used the standby queue before at that ride but it looked like there was no one at all in that part of the line visible from the entrance in standby right before the line merges with Lightning Lane. When we asked the Cast Member at the entrance about the wait time and they stated it really was 65 minutes and the line was all inside.

I thought unless they hold people in the indoor part of the queue, they were wrong and it was a walk on and another case of an inflated wait time late in the day but didn’t want to take a chance as we were meeting others at Haunted Mansion (which also had a 35 minute posted wait and no actual wait to get to the Stretching Room) Am I right to think that if no one is in that part of the line, there is no wait?

They do this throughout the day, as well. My husband and I were visiting the parks over the weekend and never waited longer than 25 minutes for a ride no matter what the wait time stated -- sometimes said wait times were reported as being 105 minutes -- despite it only being 1 or 2pm.

Can I ask where you find the wait times on touring plans I have a subscription but don't see wait times. Thanks

How late can you enter a park? Will they still let people in if th park closes in 30 minutes? Or an hour? Staying at YC and considering a walk to HS after a later dinner

The gates are open until closing time. Of course you would want to be there early enough to get on a ride or two.

Last Thursday night, DH and I decided to end the night at the Studios in line for RISE. We entered the line at 8:20pm and were out of the attraction at 9:30pm. The posted wait time was 130 minutes and we were in and out in 70 minutes.

I love Rise of the Resistance and it was perfect! No malfunctions and so much fun!!
