Inflatable pools?

I have heard from some people (not on this board) that they have seen people have small inflatable pools up on deck for infants to play in. My DD will be 23 months and not potty trained so she can not go in the pool.
Has anyone else seen this?

There isn't a place on the deck where you could put an inflatable pool. If water got too far away from the pool that would be a danger as far as slipping. Your DD will be able to go in the one Mickey ear that has fountains in it. She would be able to take toys in with her to play with.

There really is not much room on deck to put a small pool, your daughter will be able to go into one of Mickey's ear, that is set up just for the non-toilet train kids, so she will still be able to slash around....

In the 3 times I've cruised on the Magic I've not seen kiddie pools. One of the ears on the Mickey pool is reserved for the real little one but they must wear the swim diapers. My kids wear never that young when we went. I either saw this on the info channel on the cruise or on the free dvd you can get on the Disney cruise web site. Get the dvd it's pretty cool and has the Making of the Magic film on it as well as lots of info.

I have not seen inflatable pools on the deck but we used them for our excursion to swim with the stingrays. We had in our group 3 children under the age of 3 so we bought 2 small pools at walmart. The pools were not much more than 3 ft in diameter if not smaller and had almost a quilted bottom of air. We blew them up and the kids sat in them with life jackets on that we brought from home. They loved it. It worked great even with 2 kids in the same pool. They just floated around and could look over the edge and see the stingray. my 2 1/2 yo swam most of the time in the water with us. They did not get out at the snorkel spot, just sat on the boat and ate a snack.

My 1 1/2 yo had a complete fit that she couldn't go in the mickey pool and would not stay in the ear on our last cruise. It really doesn't have much water in it, just a fine fountain spray that drains immediately. The pool is really not great for toddlers but infants love it. she swam at the hotel before we went on the cruise (no non potty trained rules at any hotel or pool we've ever visited besides the mickey boat) so we ended up just avoiding the pools.

On our first cruise there wasn't a non potty trained pool rule so my 10 month old could swim. If we would of known about this before our second cruise we would of waited until she was potty trained to go. Yes it was that big of a deal for us. We live in a cold climate and my children love the water.

I think that if you got a really small pool you could probaby fit it near the top of mickeys head near between his ears but I'm not poitive. I know there is plenty of space to park a couple of strollers there and to have a row of chairs so you could try it. Don't not try it. Just find a really small pool (ours was $0.99) and don't forget a pail. You will use it again at CC. Have fun.

I wonder if they may be thinking that the Mickey ear is inflatable? It sort-of looks like something that would be blown up... I have never heard of a true inflatable pool for kids on deck....

Don't have little ones BUT I did see a woman with a (maybe 12 month old) sitting in a really small blow up pool with a little water next to her lounge chair. Mommy was able to watch her other child in the Mickey pool and she was in the last row of chairs so she wasn't really bothering anyone else but the baby was having a ball. I'd suggest that you get one of those $1 store tiny pools (her's was only about 18 inch diameter), and try to sit off to the side of everyone else.

There is a U.S. Government regulation for cruiseships that says you must be potty trained and cannot wear swim diapers in a pool. I found it one time when this came up, but I can't remember what I googled on. I'm not sure when the regulation took effect, but this isn't a "Disney rule."

I don't have small kids anymore but I wouldn't mind if a Mom did it- but my only question is, when it's time to leave the pool, what do you do with the water in the kiddie pool? Are there drains in the decking? You wouldn't want to dump that pool into the larger pool, right? I think there was a thread about this over on the RCCL AOL boards too.

I am the mother of an 18 month old and a 4 year old and I am really glad they don't allow non-potty trained kids in the pools. A swim diaper does not always keep everything in and some people do not change their children's diapers enough. After I saw a special on TV (one of those News Shows like 60 Minutes) on children who have died from EColi in public swimming pools, that was enough for me!! Even when we took our daughter to the YMCA for swim lessons there were parents there who wanted their children to swim in the pool without swim diapers. The teachers had to constantly remind people to put on swim diapers.

I will be perfectly happy having my baby play in the Mickey Ear while my 4 year old plays in the Mickey Pool HOPEFULLY ONLY with potty trained children who use the bathroom and not the pool to go potty!

There is no where to fit a pool...definately not.

Can you imagine if every passenger with a small child brought an inflatable pool onboard...there is not much room to begin with and to have blow up pools all over is insane. Where would you even empty them? I would think they would have a rule about that onboard, it would be a tripping hazard to say the least.

you should be able to just empty the pool into the infant mickey ear pool since, if anyone has ever watched the special on the travel channel, the water is filtered so it removes any kind of bacteria that may be produced from the children playing in that ear. I cannot remember if there are any drains on the floor near the pool.

There would be a real flood problem each night when the crew power washes the deck if there were no drains I would think...

Looking for the drains was never on my schedule and I was always in bed with the kids so I have never seen the power washing though I have seen the crew use machines like the ones used in hospitals and department stores to clean the floors and those don't create a flood. I'm planning to get more time away from our room this cruise so maybe I'll look for those drains. :teeth:
