Inflatable mattress in hotel room

We are headed to WDW in about 35 days and staying at the Art of Animation Little Mermaid room. It is me, my wife, daughter, and son. I am thinking we should be fine with the two double beds, but started to think that there may be a couple of nights that one of us just wants to spread out while sleeping. My thought was to bring an inflatable twin bed to put down on the ground and then just deflate it in the mornings. Anyone done this? Any suggestions on a decent priced and easy to handle inflatable bed?

Thought about moving to a suite, but we would rather spend the extra $220/night in the parks on food and goodies. I also asked the family if they wanted to switch resorts but my daughter is set on being in one of the LM rooms.

It will be tough to squeeze even a twin air mattress in one of those 277 square foot rooms. You probably won't have any room to walk once it's inflated. If you do choose to use one, I would suggest buying one with a built in pump. And watch your step!

I'm agreeing with the PP. I've never stayed in the little mermaid rooms, maybe they're bigger than the other values, but if not I doubt even a twin would fit. Even at a moderate resort we had a tough time fitting a cot in. Ended up blocking the door with it, thank goodness there wasn't a fire cause we never would've gotten out.

You may wish to consider making a pallet. Most rooms come with an extra comforter and more pillows than you need -- if yours doesn't, housekeeping can deliver, especially if you give them a few hours.

Hi, just thought I would let you know that we used an air mattress at Movies. My daughter did not want to share a bed It did mean moving the table and chairs and putting the mattress against the wall there. We would stand it on it's side when we were not using it. The mattress we used was Coleman® ComfortSmart™ Double High Twin Airbed from Target $45.00. Hope this helps!

I also found a slim twin blow up mattress over the weekend. I may have to look into that to see if it will fit better in the room. I don't mind moving things around at night.

We too have fit twin sized air mattresses into the rooms at both ASMu and POP. Technically, two would fit. We didn't do this, but we have put the air mattress in two different locations at different points. Like you, sometimes we just need to spread out. You should have no problem.

It is totally do-able and lots of families we know have done this in every value resort. Enjoy the LM room -- the pool area is great!

Funny you should say this as I've been considering the same! I have a son who will be 14 and a daughter who will be 3 and I didn't totally think this through when booking the LM room! Even though my son doesn't have a problem with sharing , I'm more worried that his flailing around in his sleep my be problematic. We would upgrade but coming from the UK we just don't have the spare cash . Hope this works for you!

Don't tell me you've never heard of a 'pallet'???

I grew up sleeping on a pallet if we had extra company. It's basically a couple quilts/comforters on the floor with a pillow. A child is comfortable on 'anything'! Works great for a few nights! We loved it as kiddies!

In my neck of the woods thats just called sleeping or crashing on the floor and this is a pallet.

A "sleeping pallet" appears to be a southern US term.

We have a Thomas one that comes with an attached sleeping bag and built in pillow. We would just put it in the corner in the morning. Also when flying I actually put it in a space saver bag to save room.

That EZ bed is a great idea. I looked around Amazon and didn't see any adult size ones. Unfortunately my son will probably want to sleep on the normal bed and being the sucker I am, I will be the one sleeping on the air mattress.

We have used an Air Mattress at ASMo. We just placed the bed in front of the door at night and then leaned it up during the day. You should not have any problems.

we bought a (real) twin aerobed for our son to use in WDW (as we also have a daughter).
it was fantastic:
- the entire aerobed, sheet set, & pillow all fit easily (with room to spare)into a rolling carry-on
- it took literally seconds to inflate & deflate with the built-in pump
- we have used ours for quite a few years (great for sleepovers!), and are very impressed that it is still is like new
- and, very importantly, the aerobed is extremely comfortable - even for our about 6', about 185lb son

We used an inflatable mattress at All Star Movies. We were there for 15 nights and took turns on the inflatable so every night 2 of us got our own space. It worked out great! After the first few nights we didn't even bother deflating it in the AM. We just stood it up against the wall. Mousekeeping didn't mind. We were all registered to the room and had no extra people, the boys were just too big to share.

We used one at the Hard Rock last year too. The beds there were queens but the boys refused to share again. No biggie, just propped it up against the wall again.

Are you flying, driving, renting a car? If you have a car I would say just buy a mattress at Walmart when you get there. They are a little heavy to pack in flight luggage, unless you have an extra bag allowed.

We are driving to Orlando. I am actually going to pick one up this weekend so we have it when we get there and don't have to make a side trip to the store.

What types of sheets or blankets did you guys get for the air mattress? Is there a cheap set that goes specifically with the air mattress?
