Grandfather Clauses
Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin and Toy Story Midway Mania! already fit into the scheme of toy-like competitions at the Disney parks, and were the initial inspiration for parks-wide Leaderboards. Clearly, it would be a really bad idea to start separately charging for these attractions. However it would be a fun tech refurb to add both of them to the MyMagic+ Leaderboards with MagicBand-registered entries of first-name & resort-name. They don't need to qualify for random FastPass+ or Mickey Coin counts for park prizes, and perhaps that's the distinguishing aspect of the additional cost. Any animatronic or hologram preshow that leads into a fully 3D Oculus Rift VR experience would be too important as an attraction to charge extra. They could qualify for MyMagic+ Leaderboards, but no prizes. Ironically the somewhat less immersive video game experiences would be the ones with an additional charge, and this would help maintain the crowd flow, while the accumulated virtual coins would help justify the charge by offering the opportunity of a real prize.

On a separate note, I hope that Disney Infinity takes full advantage of the storytelling in Disney films and propagates those same elements into the Disney Infinity games. Earlier posts mentioned the opportunity for this platform to appeal to both boys & girls. Given that this is a family-friendly gaming platform, various Disney characters could appeal to grandparents too. It may very well be that grandparents want the traditional Disney heroes & villains. Regardless, the storylines can have a better variety when they include the advise of "more wise & experienced heroes". Perhaps they will only be seen as NPCs, or as the rare figure to be purchased to complete Play Set collections. They could be used to guide traditional characters through quests. They could referee sporting events. They could be the computer opponent in games of strategy. They could include characters like Rick Dicker and Edna Mode from The Incredibles, Statler & Waldorf from the Muppets, Carl from Up, Doc Hudson from Cars, Geri from Geri's Game, etc. They're an important element to Disney films' storytelling. They could provide an important element to Disney Infinity gaming.
