Infertility...

Another great forum is http://forums.fertilitycommunity.com/ . I went through IVF (I have severe pcos) back in June, which WAS successful but then had a miscarriage at 6 weeks :( and just this past weekend had an IUI, so I have btdt! It sucks but definitely start with your regular ob/gyn. They can usually recommend a good RE if you need one. :)

Thanks again everyone for the reccomended websites and advice.

DH and I have been through the tears and emotional strain early on. Now we are in battle mode. Just like my arthritis, we will not let infertility take over our lives. I wasn't able to call my Dr yesterday (worked through lunch...busy busy busy :) ) but will try today. DH will go to his Dr and look into getting tested as well. We really don't know where the problem lies.

Out of everything, it does feel good 1). Knowing we are not alone. Support with anything is great :thumbsup2 and 2). Taking charge of our lives. That's one thing about maturing...you learn you just can't sit around any longer hoping changes will come. Now we need to take this on ourselves  .

twoweekwait was my favorite, but i visited a ton that I can't even remember now.
Even ivillage.com has specific boards for each step of the process- whether you are just starting your fertility journey or doing IUIs, IVF or dealing with PCOS or a miscarriage. there is so much info to be had.

the boards were my lifeline and I learned so much from them. DO YOUR RESEARCH.....the doctors don't tell you everything- they just shout out these numbers to you like you are supposed to know what they are. It is overwhelming. If you go in and know what a good 'uterine lining' number is, then you feel more part of the process and can ask more questions and enhance your treatment course.

At age 31, we TTC for a year on our own actively, after I had been off BCP for 5 years (with no protection, and yet no 'accidents', so we knew we had issues). after that year of trying on our own- i fianlly saw my OB/GYN and did the BBT (basal body temp to tell you when you ovulate) monitoring at home and also did 4 months of clomid with my OB/GYN. She did hte basic tests- and any good doctor should- test the husband (good to do it twice if you need to- we did and got different resutls both times)---test your bloodwork- estrogen, progesterone etc. Track your cycles. Track your temp- are you ovulating? They should do all these things first.

After a year of tracking my temp and 4 mos of clomid, i finally sought a real specialist. I then did an HSG (to check my tubes) and proceeded to do 4 IUIs, two with injectable drugs. Also did a lap to clean out some mild endo that they said was not affecting fertility. After all those failed with no explanation and good results from me in terms of egg count, we finally did IVF and got our baby! He turns a year old this month!!! what a miracle and blessing. So just educate yourself. That way you know what tests to ask for and what to check. We never discovered our problem- we were labled "unexplained infertility".........that still irks me to this day.

good luck to you!! it's a hard journey, but rewarding and makes you a stronger person for sure!!!! ;) I am now 35 and DH is 37 and we have a healthy, beautiful baby boy who is the joy of our lives. I am now considering going through all of it again.
