Infant ticket

Hello everyone,
I have a few questions on the infant tickets I have done this before but it has been a few years and I can't remember.

I have booked a UK package which includes hotel and tickets. We have an infant with us.
What happens with her ticket?
I seem to remember that on entry to the park she had a Magic Band that she had to scan and a fingerprint that had to be taken (nightmare) and someone coming and taking a photo of her to ensure she was an infant which took forever?
Is this right?

What about the rides but most importantly with the new multipass can we bring her to the rides that we would have booked through the paid multipass system or do I need to purchase it for her as well? And if not how do they know that she can come to that ride at that specific time with us?

Thank you

We had my two-year-old granddaughter with us this past June and there was no need for anything for her. No Magic Band needed, no scanning, no finger-check. She stayed in the stroller and was waved through while the adults scanned in.

Any Lightening Lanes we had covered her as well...no separate pass or band scan needed.

Disney does not have “infant tickets.” Under age 3 has no ticket.

Only age 3+ has a ticket and thus need to tap MB at entry. I think they may allow young ones (like preschool) to skip the finger scan. If the child is unable to do a finger scan, they may allow a parent to do it or take a picture— just be aware that particular parent must scan for the child at every park.

with the new multipass can we bring her to the rides that we would have booked through the paid multipass system or do I need to purchase it for her as well?
Under age 3 can enter the queue with the parent/family, assuming it is not a height restricted ride. If so you’ll have to do Rider Swap. As for LLMP if young for a ticket then again they just go with the parent/family. If age 3+ you will need to buy LLMP for each individual who will be entering the queue.

But I'm pretty sure my infants had a magic band and they used to scan it to get in and out of rides and in and out of the park. Do you think it would as a fake one? Or is it different with the UK package

Back when MBs were free they would send them for anyone on a room reservation (at least here in the states), even if the person was under 3 and didn't need it to get in and out of the parks.

Ah yes it was 2019 and there were free fast passes and magic bands. So were those magic bands active or just fake for infants? But now they don't have anything or if I buy one for her because we will all have one it will not do anything?

They were "active" in that they linked to the profile in MDE and would open the room door, but since the MDE profile lacked tickets, they were un-necessary in the parks. Although my then 20 month old insisted upon wearing hers in 2018.

Disney defines the need for a ticket by age. None of us know what you mean by infant.

Under 3 years old do not require a ticket. Those 3 and up need a ticket.

Unless using Genie+ (or in the past FP+) or DAS, there is no scanning into rides/attractions. And there has definitely never been scanning "out" of rides or the park. Sometimes memories are funny that way.

It doesn't matter what kind of package. A child under age 3 does not require a ticket. You can buy a MagicBand for them to wear so the little one can scan like the rest of the family, but it doesn't actually "do" anything because there is no ticket required. Most families have found that MBs are likely to fall off a child that young because their wrist is so small, so just be careful if you decide to buy one.

She will be 2.5. So if I buy her a Magicband there is nothing that I can put on it.
Nothing is "on" any MagicBand. But you can link it to her profile on your MDE. It should open the resort room door. It has no particular function within the parks, though, unless you want to give the child charging permissions (which you could because you would then have to enter the code).

Even if you had to scan into a LL or extra hours or some special reason, under 3 is not needed to do anything. She is part of you. Like a package deal. No worries about it. She goes with you unless a height restriction and then you have rider swap.

I’ve always thought of an infant as being under one, toddlers one to three, preschoolers three to five.

Thank you for your replies:) do I then need to add her to MDE? Or it doesn't really matter?what about booking restaurants

Are you staying onsite at a WDW resort? if so, yes the infant needs to be on the reservation; by default that means the infant is in your MDE. It's for fire code. Most regular resort rooms at WDW sleep 4 + 1 under age 3; some will sleep larger parties.

If staying offsite, it probably doesn't matter if the infant is your MDE. However you won't have a profile to link the MagicBand to if the child is not listed in MDE.

Restaurants require ALL guests to be listed, no matter how young or where they will be seated. It's fire code. **ETA as clarification - restaurants require a total head count, they don't need guest names
