Infant seating on shuttles?

What do you do if you take your baby (mine's 8 mos) on the shuttle buses. Do you take a car seat with you or do you hold them on your lap???
Is there a law concerning this? I ask because I've never even seat belts on the shuttles I've been on. We are travelling to California from Canada.

I haven't ridden on public transport in so long - what do people do with babies on buses? We will be taking a large greyhound type bus on one of our tours - do people simply hold their babies on buses?

I appreciate the advice on this board - I would feel silly asking these??? on some of the other boards!

Unfortunately most shuttle buses don't have seat belts so the car seat won't do much good. The few times we rode on one with DD (now 4) when she was a baby I had her in a Baby Bjorn. More recently I had her in a hip type carrier. It's not the safest way to travel but I thought it was better than just holding her.

I put my dd in her carseat and jammed in between the seats on a greyhound type bus. She was next to the window, and I sat on the aisle. Again, not ideal, but I felt the carseat would protect her somewhat, even if not strapped in - I am talking about a bucket seat here, a forward facing seat would be completely useless.
With the handle in the upright position, the bucket seats make almost a roll cage, so even if the seat was dropped from a height and landed upside down the baby is protected (Unfortunately I know this from experience, I dropped my baby in her carseat trying to get it into a supermarket trolley.... Thank God she was strapped into the seat, she woke up and was very startled and upset, BUT she was completely fine, I on the other hand, was a complete wreck.)

if you mean the buses on site at Disney, to get from the hotel to the parks, then that wouldn't work (nor shuttle buses from the airport to the carhire place), because they seem to have seats that are mostly sideways facing the aisle, and there is noway the carseat would stay on the seat.

This was an issue for me when we went with our son when he was 5 months old. I wasn't comfortable having him in a moving vehicle without a car seat so we chose to drive to the resorts in our own car as opposed to taking the buses.

Lind, you mentioned you had an 8 mo. old when visiting DW. Do you or anyone else have advice or tips on taking an infant? My DS is 8 mo. old and my DD is 2 3/4. Is October still very warm?
