Inexpensive princess dresses

I'm looking for princess dresses for my niece. She will be 2.5 in August when we go. My girls have long outgrown the size 2/3 and I have passed along the dresses we had. I want to have one for everyday for her. Trying to keep it inexpensive, as I'm already covering a portion of my sister and her families trip.(I volunteered, the only way they could stay on property)
Any places I should look?

I know I see a lot of posts about the nightgowns sold by Disney working as dresses in the parks. And they are a LOT more comfortable than the actual princess dresses Disney sells.

It will be so hot in August. A lot of those princess dresses can really be itchy. Some of those night gowns really do look like princess dresses.

I saw the cutest little tutu skirts somewhere the other day but my DD is 13 and I didn't look at them closely. They caught my eye because the display looked like a rainbow. I'm not sure where we were. I was at Walmart, Target, JC Penney, and Sam's that day. I know that is not much help but these were extra cute and they had one in every color. I was thinking it was Target and I looked on their site but I'm really not sure if it was there or not but they do have a lot of tutus.

They have sparkly tank tops everywhere. I would pair that with a tutu. Even if you use a dress up tutu from the toy dept, you could add some little knit shorts under it. If she's okay with wearing her hair up, you could even put in a tiara. Add some glitter and you'll have a really cute princess.

We also planned on our daughter wearing a princess dress 4-5 of our 7 days at disney last fall. We quickly abandoned this idea on day 2 of itchy hot dresses. We brought a princess dress to the park on the days we had princess meals and for pictures but wore comfortable clothes otherwise. I also stressed about Mickey bars etc getting on the dresses and it just wasn't worth it.

Check Wal-Mart and Target. Look in both the nightgowns and clothing.

I know my mom found my niece a cute Tinkerbell dress at Wal-Mart years ago for her birthday in May. The nightgowns they had were also really cute and made of nice material that won't itch.

I made my nieces dresses. I made them sundresses so they wouldn't be too hot and itchy.

Back in 2007 my sister sent my niece with enough money for two Disney dresses. They were nice but warm and itchy.

Thanks for all the tips. I don't care if its August. Im paying for the trip, and I'm buying the dresses. My girls always wore their dresses, in all seasons. I feel like Clark Griswald 'we will have mandatory fun'. I also don't care if the get stained ripped etc. .

I use etsy. Lots of ladies make simple cotton princess dresses that are very cute.

BabysRus has some cute ones for 25% off and clearance ones for $5 or less. They were pretty cute.

We always brought the princess dress and in the summer told her to wear a cami with cotton shorts on under her dress. It was hot regardless and she never complained about it being itchy. Granted she was alway Belle or Cinderella, which have the bigger ball gowns.

The other thing we did if you can't find a dress is the Disney store often has tshirts for $5. We bought one for everyday of the trip so she was always "in theme" for pictures lol

Im going to second the Etsy advice, maybe because im a crafter so im a bit biased. (i dont craft dresses etc..) but most the ones ive seen on there are so cute and a little different which will make her stand out. Good Luck!!!

In August Costco usually has Disney halloween (princess) costumes on sale for about 18.99. They are nice quality.

Those look so cute and only some of the moms would know they are a nightgown. I'm surprised that the Ariel one is on sale for less than $10.

Me too! They are very well made and like I said my daughter lives in them when she gets her way lol. We have the Sophia one and princess trio in short sleeves and a long sleeves Aurora one. We also have actual princess dresses she
Loves those too. Disney store is/was having a sale with 25% off using DisneyPal as the code.

what should have been a wonderful memory for my daughter turned into a nightmare over an "itchy dress". It was our first trip to WDW. She was turning 5. I had her apt for BBB all set to go. I searched and searched - found what I thought was the perfect dress. Cinderella's wedding dress. I had visions of my happy princess all dressed up twirling around the castle. Woke up the morning of her BBB apt and put the dress on. She freaked out ! cried and cried because it was too itchy ! I tried everything including putting tshirt underneath. Nothing worked..thats when I lost it. I also lost the "parent of the year" award I snatched the dress off her and tossed it in the trash . This did not help. My poor husband didn't know what to do. I eventually convinced her to wear it for one hour. It was an awful experience. I still have so many regrets over how I reacted, its not a happy memory like it should have been. In the years that have followed she will wear a silky lacy tutu skirt with a princess tshirt. I guess my point is even when you try to find the perfect dress and have visions of your daughter in the dress - it just might not turn out how you envisioned. Ive also heard the nightgowns are comfy and the do look really cute. Good luck with whatever you choose !
