Inexpensive hotel near Universal?

Thinking about doing this for our first day/night instead of WDW since the family does not come in til the next day and my son has never been to Universal. Is there someplace inexpensive (relatively) we could stay at to go to Universal? Maybe even walk from?

I have booked into the Fairfield Inn by Marriott. I paid about $55 for the room, it includes transfers and free breakfast. I like the reports on www.tripadvisor.com. The hotel is only a few years old and has had good reports. There are lots of other hotels in the area, comfort suites, holiday inn, red roof inn, etc.
