INEXPENSIVE Hotel near MCO Airport?

We are flying into MCO from the West coast and won't arrive untill 10:00 pm. We are looking for an inexpensive hotel for our first night. Any ideas? We have reservations at the Contemporary for the rest of our trip and plan on using ME in the morning from the airport to the contempoarary.

I would check hotwire.com. They will list the amenities which will include a shuttle if they have one. I would book a 3* or higher.

Depending on how inexpensive you are looking for.... I was able to book one night at a value for a reasonable price because we are arriving late the night before checkin at the Beach Club. Some of the really inexpensive off site places are a little scary looking.

Use Priceline.com and bid around $65 for a 3.5 star hotel for MCO.

I used Priceline "Name your own Price" in Oct 2008 and got the Hyatt in MCO for $58 a night. We also had a late arrival (11:30 pm) and this worked out perfect. I have also stayed at the Amerisuites Northeast at the airport when our flight was cancelled. I got a distressed traveler rate of $65, but I have seen this one going on Priceline for $40 a night. It was comfortable and had a continental breakfast.

Go for a value resort you will be much happier. Or just pay the extra $$$ for another night at the CR. It will be worth it.

We have stayed at the Wingate and it was nice with a continental breakfast and close to the airport. I can't recall exactly what we paid but it was around $80.

I like bidding Priceline MCO 21/2* for around $40 and often get either of the two Amerisuites. I like the breakfast buffet before shuttling back to MCO for either car rental or ME. Disadvantage is that I need to pull my own bags from baggage claim, but that's not huge.

For Priceline, it's great but DO NOT bid below the highest star level or you could wind up at the La Quinta from Hell. Not the La Quinta Suites, but the other one which is not in the Semoran area. The other hotels at that level are great, but it's not worth the risk of getting that hideous place. Our "non-smoking" room adjoined a smoking room (i.e. connecting door in the room), and the bathroom vent sucked all the smoke right into our room. Our clothes actually stunk when we left. Thank goodness it was only overnight before a cruise. The next morning, we found someone else waiting to check out who said he'd been there for a while, and no one was at the desk. Someone showed up literally 20 mins. later and said, "Sorry, I was feeding my kid in the car." We couldn't eat the free breakfast that was supposedly included because several workers were literally carrying the food outside for themselves. I swear, I think we ended up at a hotel in the Twilight Zone!

We stayed at the airport Marriott about a week and a half ago for $65 using Priceline.

I've stayed at the Semoran La Quinta (on Frontage Road) just north of the airport and it was a very nice place. It's not a Suites, and I am not sure which ones you refer to above.

The MCO web site has a list http://www.orlandoairports.net/marketing/hotels.htm of all the airport places with free shuttles. The ones north of the airport on 436/Semoran tend to be newer and in nice neighborhoods. They tend to run $10 to $20 higher than the cheapest discount rooms in the Orlando area, but for the location and shuttle are worth it.

Some of the ones on McCoy Road are older clunkers, I would avoid that area. The HIE on OBT Florida Mall is half way to Disney, I would not consider it an "airport area" motel.

The one I am thinking of is near a McDonald's and it's on the other side of the airport. I'll have to see if I can find the address, but there is nothing else much around it other than a bar/grill type place. The hotels in the Semoran area (i.e. north exit) are all great. We've been at the LaQuinta over there (although I thought it was suites) and had very good experiences. When we were bidding the highest star level, we usually got the Marriott although we also got the Renaissance and the Holiday Inn Select.

Thanks - I think I will check out Priceline and hope for the Hyatt. We called WDW travel and found that a value resort would run us $150.00 a night. We may go that route if Priceline doesn't pan out.

You can probably get something in the $30 range in Hotwire that will be fairly decent despite the price! Orlando is one of the cheapest places as far as hotels are concerned.

Do any of you know of a hotel w/ the free MCO shuttle that is next to a Budget rental (or other car rental) place by any chance?

Monumental Hotel which is 4 stars for $68.00 a night and 8 miles from the airport on Hotwire.com. I had the exact same situation. It looks like a nice place for the price.
