inexpensive hotel between airport and wdw?

i'm not seeing early enough incoming flights or late enough departures for our trip in september, so i'm debating flying in a night early and staying somewhere between the airport and wdw so we can get up first thing, drop the bags at Bay Lake Tower, and have a full first day.

i know ZERO about orlando outside wdw, so i've no idea what's good/bad. i'd like to keep it inexpensive since it's purely to sleep and leave first thing in the morn.

would get a hotel at the airport that has a shuttle - next morning take the DME to WDW.

these hotels are surpose to have the shuttle from hotel to airport and back again = always check with the hotel itself

From the McCOy Air Force Base airport web site a list of free shuttle motels.

On the map the ones due north of the terminal on 436 are best. All fairly new. I stayed at the #5 La Quinta a few years back. Nice place, good breakfast. All between the runways but there are few late night flights so plane noise is not any problem.

I would avoid the ones west on 528 (#22 and up.) Some are very old and dumpy. Not sure which ones any more.

Put in Orlando Airport Area on Expedia and they come up. Now you know which ones to pick. Do be careful, as Expedia will bring up some cheap DUMPS on 441 near Florida Mall several miles west of the airport and call them "Airport Area" although they do not have a free shuttle.

Even if you are renting a car, you can fly in at night, free shuttle to the motel and back, and pick up your rental car back at the airport the next day and save a day's car rental. Works best if you don't have a lot of kids or luggage.

Of course if you rent a car and want a cheap dump, 441 near Florida Mall or 192 east in Old Town Kissimmee will give you that "$40 room in Orlando" experience. Only recommended if all members of your party are black belts or you are a cop bringing your gun with you.
