DD and I are going on vacation this week to Washington DC. Her boyfriend lives about 1 1/2 hours outside DC so he has offered to be our tourguide. We are stopping in his hometown the night before and the night after our vacation. (I'm leaving after work one day so we will get there late evening.) I had reservations at a hotel in that town for those two nights but his family very generously offered for us to stay there. At first I said no but they kept asking until I gave in.

Since we will be staying with his family overnight I would like to take a thank you gift. The two times DD has been there she has taken a box of candy from a local candy store and a selection of cookies she made. Does anyone have any ideas on what we can take? I have only met his parents once and have no idea what they like/dislike. I would appreciate any suggestions! Thanks!!!

a candle? little gift basket of stuff from pa? you said your dd gave them cookies how about doing one of the cookies in a jar thing(where you have all the dry stuff in the masion jar and only thing they need to add is the eggs ans oil but they have all different things you can do that with like brownies & soups) only things i can think of right now

I think something local from your area would be appropriate. Like a craft or regional food. Or just go for a nice bottle of wine.
