My DD (3) loves taking pictures, and last time around we had some disposable cameras she used while we used our digital. Well, since then I've been hunting in vain for an inexpensive digital camera that I felt was either rugged enough to give a 3 year old, or was cheap enough that I wouldn't fell it was money ill spent if she broke it.
Finally, my husband found it while searching idly on thehttp://www.tigerdirect.com website - it's a 640x480 digital camera with USB connection and 8 MB on-board RAM - for $9.99! It comes up under the "Beginner Cameras" category, and it's made by Vivitar.
I would end up spending more than this for a couple of disposables and photo processing! It only holds like 20 pictures at a time, but even if she fills it up twice and we download to the computer, it'll make it worth the money. Since she's just learning to take pictures, the resolution is probably more than good enough, and if she breaks it, it's no big loss!
We haven't gotten it yet (should be here in the next few days) but when it comes in, I'll be sure to add a review to the thread. In the meantime, I just had to share my find! I'm hoping it'll be a great little camera for small kids - definately less expensive than disposables in the long run! And even cheaper than the one-time use cameras from CVS! It is a refurbish, but I imagine that technically, so are the one-time uses from CVS as well - I don't think they toss them in the landfill after you turn them in.
Mur!
