We are staying at the Wyndham Orlando on I drive the night before our cruise, I would like to get an inexpensive breakfast that morning-any suggestions? We won't be having lunch until around 1:00 so I would rather have something better than donuts-maybe pancakes or waffles or something?

There is a Perkins right across the street on Sand Lake and I Drive and my son would add the coooool Burger King next door serves breakfast. It's themed like a 50s diner.

There's also a IHOP at 6005 I Drive if you're driving.

Robin is spot on with her suggestions. This area of I-Drive is the busiest part of a busy area, so you are really spoiled for choice. There are both Ponderosa and Sizzler restaurants nearby, plus the huge McDonald's of Mickey D's (with its great play area). The Friendly's restaurant just half a mile down I-Drive is also a good option and the Mercado Center has a great - and budget-oriented - food court which is also worth checking out for breakfast. Like I said, you are not short of choice here!

Oh, my goodness, Simon! I forgot the FANCY McDonald's on Sand Lake and Turkey Lake! They make made to order omelets and belgian waffles! :earseek: A McDONALDS! I just left there!

Are you serious about a mcdonalds with belgium waffles and omletts? this I may have to see!

I second the perkins restaurant across the street !!!!!

I am NOT kidding, guys! This McDs is a GOURMET McDonalds,IF you can imagine that!

I was there to use the coupon I got from the Budget Board for a free pizza ...http://www.mcfun.com/images/coupon_pizza.gif when I read about the omelettes and the belgian waffles. They also sell cheesecake, panini sandwiches and of course, pizza. It's a Mcdonald's that has to be experienced.

Yes, Simon I usually am a goof but this time I'm serious!:p

hey robin do you know if they have a web site? Myhusband does not believe me.

I don't have a website to give you but I will quote from the May, 2003 issue of WHERE Orlando magazine that we picked up on our visit last month:

FAST FOOD
MC DONALD'S - A McDonald's like none other, this innovative fast-
food restaurant of the international chain deviates from the traditional yellow-arches image. Sand Lake Road location offers a more sophisticated interior, pool tables, art on the walls and an expanded menu that features pizzas, gourmet desserts and European coffees. Billed as a McDonald's for adults. The Kirkman Road location boasts a safari theme. Open 24 hours. Price: $.
7740 Sand Lake Road, Orlando 407-264-0770. 2944 S. Kirkman Rd., Orlando, 407-296-6265.

We rode past it on our last visit. Next time we will have to stop.
Has anyone eaten at the Kirkman Road location? The article doesn't comment on their menu, only on decor.

I wonder what the belguim waffles and the likes cost.. has anyone done breakfast there?

We have had breakfast at that McDonalds but just got the regulat menu items. We ate at the Perkins last time and they have WONDERFUL pancakes!!

We stay at the Wyndham quite a bit and most of the time we eat at the Ponderosa breakfast buffet. It is on the other side of I drive from where you are staying and a few blocks down to the left. You can walk it but we usually take our vehicle because the traffic is bad.

ok well what are we talking price wise for the breakfast buffet at ponderosa or to eat at perkins?

Ann here is a link to the Perkins menu!!!http://perkinsny.com/menu.html
Prices are very reasonable!!!!
the muffins are great too made fresh!! Made on site!! the syrup choices for the pancakes are Regular, apricot and a mixed berry and they also have sugar free too!!

Dinner and Lunch is reasonable too!! Breakfast is available all day!! We discovered Perkins after our hotel went from having buffet at breakfast to a regular breakfast. perkins was much better!!

Ponderosa was less than $5 a person. You can get discount coupons in almost any of the coupon books around there. You have to pay a seperate price for you bev. Most of the wait staff are very friendly. They have a big selection of items.

Perkins was reasonable although more than Ponderosa. We really enjoyed both places. The only think I did not like about Perkins was that they did not have cooked grits. They only had instant(yuck!!). The pancakes we had were great and they were very friendly. I do not remember what we paid but it was probably almost double that of the buffet.
