I (Mom) am a big wimp. I do not do BTMRR or Splash @ WDW. Mine Train, Barnstormer, and Primieval Whirl are fine for me. Dinosaur is fine for me. Is the Indy ride @ DL exactly like Dinosaur, as far as the motion, jerks, etc.? I heard there is a drop, but it is more like Pirates @ WDw than Splash. I really want to go on this ride with my kids, but don't want to get on it and then (semi) freak out. If it is just like Dinosaur with a drop like pirates, I am fine--if there's anything more intense, please let me know.

It's sort of like Dinosaur.... but with better music. ;)

If you can do Dinosaur, you'll be fine. The motion is similar, but Indy is a far superior ride. I can walk right past Dinosaur but Indy is a "must do" for us.

Agreed. I thought the motion was about the same. Indy is a far superior ride though.

I love Indy, but I hated Dinosaur. If you are okay on Dinosaur, you'll be fine on Indy.

In fact, I'm trying to think of a drop in Indy. There is one point where you are driving down "stairs" and you go down, but it's not anything like a real drop. Or even the fake "drops" they have on Pirates at Disney World.

You should probably be aware there are two drops in Pirates and they are bigger than the drops at Pirates at Disney World. Still nothing like Splash Mountain, however.

I absolutely hate dinosaur, but Indy is one of my favorite rides in any Disney park! If you are fine on Dinosaur, you will be fine on Indy. The ride vehicles are the same. The movement is similar.

The "drop" is more of a steep downhill drive. It's hard to describe without spoiling the ride but it's not a drop like POC.

The first time I rode indy, I thought there was a drop, but the last few times I haven't even noticed it, so I think I was imagining one in the dark. Pirates is a steep "fall" that you feel, Indy doesn't have any drop as steep. Indy has a lot of abrupt jerking, rocking, some accelerated slightly downhill movement, but nothing I would consider a scary drop. You should be fine, and you'll love it.

ok--so what about this drop in pirates? how much more of a drop than at WDW? any other surprises/differences from WDW rides that I should know about?

There are two, one smaller than the other. They don't feel like "drops" to me as much as a sort of "slide". Neither of them bother me at all, and I always notice drops in rides. The first one is in the dark, and it sounds scarier than it is.

I've never been to WDW and done their version of Pirates, but I consider the drop in Pirates at DL more like a slide. That's how I explained it to my daughter the first time, I told her it would feel like going down a slide. It isn't a big enough drop to give you butterflies.

The first drop is a little bit longer than at WDW but not like splash mountain type of drop it is in the dark so it is disorienting sometimes. The second drop is small and nothing. The drops are both in the first minute then afterwards it is just like the WDW one as far as scenes go. My cousin hates drops but she can now go on pirates. At the end you go up a long hill and a lot of people think there is a drop after but there is no drop. I think even if you are afraid of drops this one is not bad and the rest of the ride is so great that I would still try it. I think it is better than the WDW version. Just be careful if you are in the first couple rows on the left side of the boat (closest to loading) you can get wet on the drop because there is a curve right after that causes a wave if the boat is heavy.

The drop in Indy is just like the final drop of dinosaur. Very fun!

Totally agree. But without the scary dinosaur! I've ridden both multiple times, and if you can handle the "careening jeep" of Dinosaur, you can handle the same on Indiana Jones, with better special effects and more cool things to see along the way.

I wouldn't be surprised to find out that the ride layouts of both Dino and Indy are exactly the same. Of course they're not, but they may as well be. Equally jerky and uncomfortable. One just has different sets than the other. I'm not much of a fan of either, though Indy's sets are more elaborate and enjoyable.

Its the same ride technology system as Dino but with a MUCH better theme and execution :) If you are ok on dino you will LOVE Indy :)

What is "execution," and how is it different from theme in the case of these two rides? I'm being serious here.
