Indy queue

My gut is to run and grab FPs for Indy as soon as we enter DL on our first day (our first time ever in DLR!), but I've heard/read that the queue is an experience in itself. Do you miss the queue entirely when you enter via the FP line? Do you think the queue is worth the hype?

You go through the entire inside portion of the queue with FP. It's still a significant wait after the FP merge. Of all the FP rides, I'd say Indy cuts out the smallest amount of waiting.

It is one of the better queues overall in my opinion. If you are gonna wait in line, that would be one I would want to wait in over a Space Mountain or Soarin.

I have yet to wait in RSR. Always been on a FP so far. I do actually want to do standby once to take in all the detail.

By time I get through a line like Toy Story I am ready to shoot MYSELF with the toy gun!

For me, I would go pull a Space Mountain or Star Tours FP then go do standby at Indy since it should still be reasonable early in the AM

For Indy if you are starting the day at opening and go straight there, snag a FP and then get in the normal line. That way you get a nice short opening line and then the FP line.

I love the ride, but TSMM has a long, boring wait.

As for the OP, the best part of the Indy queue is after the fastpass line joins the standby line. As others have said, the Indy fastpass offers the least amount of time savings compared to other rides with FP, but it's still significant if the park is busy. I'll also add that the last few times I've been, some of the cool features in the queue were broken, which is disappointing.

As SMD said, you still get to go through the majority of the queue if you have a FP. You bypass the outdoor portion of the queue, which has some interesting things to look at. The FP and standby lines merge at the temple entrance. You'll end up walking a lot of the interior queue (the temple start, the cave area, more temple) before you meet up with the line itself (I usually meet up with the line in or just before the room with the well). In fact, you'll breeze by a lot of the elements in the queue if you're just walking through it without stopping to look around. If you want to look at the elements and try to translate the messages, you'll need to let folks go by you.

I agree with bumbershoot that the "best of both worlds" option is to get a FP first thing in the morning and then get into line and (hopefully) see the outdoor queue. There is a chance that at the point the standby line might bypass the outdoor area (because FP don't tend to start until about 30-45 minutes after park opening).

If you do opt to take your time through the queue, it might be worth taking a copy of the decoder/translator so you can read the messages.

If I were you, I'd get a FP for something else, like Splash, Space, or Big Thunder.

You'll love the queue for Indy. Even the outside before actually going into the temple sets the mood with nice atmosphere. I wouldn't miss it.

I love IJ--it is my favorite ride and I try to ride it every day and sometimes twice a day when I am at DLR. But, I've never done the outdoor que as I use a fp. Now I am wondering what I'm missing. I sure love the elements in the indoor que!

I was starting to get excited about trying out this queue as we've always FP this ride. But then I remembered why I FP it. Because my 3yo is 40 inches, not the dumb 46 inches that DL requires. I'd rather not make her wait an extra 30 minutes just to see a few extras. I'm still trying to figure out why the same ride vehicle in Anaheim needs 6 inches more than the one in Florida. I guess it'll be another 3 or 4 years before we actually hit the actual queue.

Totally agree!!!

This a queue that we don't mind waiting in(at least once per trip;)!)

Much rather be held up in a line here, than say, Peter Pan(too much invasion of space), Small World(no shade), Haunted Mansion(boring), etc.

Plus, the IJ queue is air conditioned wonderfully, and we usually freeze----soooooo nice on a hot day!::yes::

Realizing I've never stepped foot in the outside part of the line.

FPs on Monday started at park opening. Got FPs and got in the line that never stopped until we were going down the stairs to seating. We just never get into Indy standby when it's long enough to be outside!

And then DS was balking at using the FPs (wasn't totally sure about the ride that early) so we went on splash, walked too slowly, and missed the whole FP window. Oh well!

I got a bit of a chuckle over that. ;) Oh well, new FP time. So it's good. Say hello to those rascally pirates for me por favor.

While your waiting in line for Indy, If you see a rope: pull it! If a bamboo support seems loose: Shake it! Have fun!:rolleyes1
