I have a Panasonic FZ200 camera. What settings should I put it on to capture photos for the indoor shows like Lion King?

The auto modes aren't likely to get you the shots in situations like this but you could try one that gives priority to the shutter speed. No one can really tell you exact settings though, just how we approach it. For dark shows I give priority to the shutter speed, making sure it's sufficient to avoid motion blur. Usually I have the aperture wide open. And I use the lowest ISO I can get away with and still get the exposure.

Thanks for the response but that is all foreign language to me. My camera has M, A, P and S settings. Should I choose one of those and adjust from there? I was trying not to use the auto mode but do the manual, aperature, etc settings.

A previous poster was suggestion S shutter priority.. Probably at least 1/300 if you're zooming.

You could also try A aperature mode, set to your camera's brightest aperature f/2.8. The risk of A mode is it may give you a slower shutter speed, resulting in motion blur.

You also want to shoot in RAW instead of just JPG , even with your fast lens, you will probably wing up wih ISO 1600 or 3200 and you can get better high ISO pictures from RAW.

I would also suggest setting the camera for spot or center focus and metering, those usually help keep the camera more responsive.

If possible, play around. Its not bad to try A S and Auto during the show, sometimes you can "outsmart" the cameras Auto, sometimes you can.

Here's a photograph I took the last time I went the Lion King, based upon the capabilities of your camera you should be able to take photographs similar to this one.

Setting used were ISO 1600 f4.5 1/60.

Make sure your stabilization system in your cameras turned on. Also wait for the action to freeze before taking the photograph as at this shutter speed motion blur is quite a possibility.

Good Luck!

Also don't stop at the Lion King with your photos. Many existing low light photographs are possible inside of Disney World. Below the setting were ISO 3200 f5.6 1/30
