We will be staying at CSR mid November. Our son is a competitive swimmer and we are unsure if the temperature will be warm enough for him to swim laps in one of the outdoor pools. Would anyone know if there is an indoor pool near Disney that we would be able to use(for a fee). We will have a car so travel is not a problem. Alternatively, what is the weather usually like in November? Would the heated pools be warm enough?

really think you will be fine - Disney heats the pools - so they are fine - the problem will be getting in and out of the pool - with CSR the main pool is a good long walk from most of the rooms.

think someone mention YMCA that had a indoor pool fairly close?

It should be plenty warm to swim unless an unusual cold front has moved in. We always swim in December with no problem. But none of the WDW pools have actual lap lanes. DD is a competitive swimmer too, and will sometimes just swim back and forth across a wide section of the pool if it isn't too crowded, but it doesn't work well if the pool is busy. I've never looked into offsite options, but there is probably a YMCA or gym nearby that would offer a day pass.

He should be fine but there is a YMCA off International that isn't too far.

I'm not the OP, but I will be staying at CSR (like OP) next week--and I was under the impression that CSR does have a lap pool, located in the Casitas section? That is one (of the many) reasons we chose to stay at CSR--I am training for triathlon and wanted to get in some swim practice.

Oh wow, I didn't know that! It's not a resort I ever considered staying at, but if they have a lap pool that would definitely put it on my radar.

I'd go to the YMCA aquatics center, absolutely. Regardless of if there's a basic rectangular pool, it will have people standing around in it. It'll be HARD to get proper laps in. Just go to the aquatics center.

CSR pool has I think 2 lanes and most reports 25-40m.

Scroll down to see the pool ..

Are the Swan/Dolphin non grotto pools actual lap pools and designated for that purpose? I have a vague memory that this was so at least some time in the distant past?

This would have been many years ago, now, so even if they had been, it might not be so today.

Thank you all so much for the advice. Hoping the weather will be nice enough to get a bit of training time in at our resort. If not we will make the trip to a local Y.:sunny:
