We own an "every other week" at a resort in Cocoa Beach.

We enjoy it very much, and would likely never want to trade it to stay anywhere else. (My DH was just there today - to surf.)

Anyway - the resort (apparently) has left its prior "club affiliation" and has joined Interval International.

I have received an offer in the mail to join II - a 2-year membership for (approx) $84.

With my DVC membership in II - would this be worth it to me?

Since I'll never likely want to trade out with my Cocoa Beach week, would the opportunities to take advantage of the different "getaways" and other discounts be worth it to join?

TIA!

Do you want to take Getaways at other resorts?(They run about $300-$700, on average) If your resort requires you to be part of Interval in order to exchange your week to another week at your same resort, then you really don't have a choice, unless you always stay the same week. Only you can answer whether the cost is worth it to you.

You cannot add DVC to your II membership as DVC has a corporate membership. It's also unlikely to be worth joining II for an EOY ownership that you don't plan to exchange. If you want to trade it rarely, do so through one of the independent exchange companies like San Francisco Exchange, Trading Places, Platinum Interchange, HTSE or Dian an Exchange. Unless you plan to do a lot of last minute cash rentals and/or travel very off season, it's not worth doing it for the rental access. There are several sites to rent timeshare inventory if one wants to do that. It is likely you could stay with RCI though if you wanted as previous members are usually grandfathered in though you may lose internal exchange preferences and at times, free membership in your preferred exchange company. I prefer II but RCI also has advantages.

Thanks to both of you for your responses.

Cruelladeville - no, we have a floating week, so that wouldn't be an issue. And we can book on a "per night" basis at a significantly discounted rate - so availability at our "own" resort shouldn't be an issue.

I guess I was just wondering about other travel opportunities - but it sounds like there's too many other options out there to cost-justify buying into II.

Thanks a bunch!!
