I have just returned from a holiday where we had our first experience of travelling on the Eurostar, so I am now wondering how it works if we want travel home from DLP on the indirect service.

Do we go through a baggage and passport check when we board the TGV at Marne La Valle or does that happen at Lille?

IIRC it happens at lille, we'll be going indirect for the return journey of our trip in September. :cool1::yay:

That makes sense. :)

Can anyone advise how long should we allow for the checks? The train I would prefer to catch from DLP would mean just a 37 minute stopover at Lille - would that be long enough?

yes thats fine we got of the train at lille straight into the euro star check in we where o0nly in the departaure lounge for 10 mins its very easy i was stressing a bit but had know probs:thumbsup2

We had the choice of the 37 minute wait or 1 hour 27 minute wait when we went last month, I nearly went for the 37 minute wait, but ended up going for the 1 hour 27 minute and I am glad I did as our train was delayed for 30 minutes from Disney to Lille! If that had happened on the later train we would of missed the Eurostar!

If the train runs on time 37 minutes is fine as it does not take long to get from the train to the check-in desk but I always like to leave that little bit extra!

Thanks for your help everyone. :) Gives me something to think about.

I'd second the making sure you have sufficient time between the trains ... we went by indirect eurostar for the first time last month. We booked the suggested trains on the website - 26 minutes between trains on the way out ... the Eurostar just stopped in a field in France for 20 minutes and we had 6 minutes to get our connection, luckily we managed it but it made me worry. Coming home the train to Lille before ours was 90 minutes late, ours was 15 minutes late ... we made the connection but not with much time to spare. I think I'd pay the extra for a direct service ... only afterwards did I realise I'd be much more confident in missing my onward connection in the UK than having to sort it out in France!
