Indigo child?

Check out this quote:

"Take a closer look at your offspring. Researchers claim that 95% of children born after 1994 are the indigo children. The fascinating adjective derives from the color of an aura around their bodies. The internal organs of these children have different functions, their immune systems is several times stronger than that of an average person. The children also have a different kind of DNA, a mutation kind. In other words, as regards the changes in DNA, millions of residents of planet Earth are not humans. A race of new beings is slowly but surely climbing the stage. "

Uh,huh.

I also think it's a complete load of crap.
I find it astonishing (also rather scary) that some people actually take it seriously.

I wonder what the Scientologists think about this? :rolleyes1

I had an 8th grade girl last year who asked me if I knew what an Indigo Child was. I told her that, yes, I had heard the term but until there was scientific evidence Indigo Children really exist, it was a bunch of hogwash.

Of course she started to cry.

The next day her mother, along with the mother of a boy I had in another class called a meeting with me and the principal. They brough several of these books for me to read. (yea, I'll get right on that, ladies - Not!) Both said their children were reincarnated royalty from hundreds of years ago and that I should feel grateful to have them in my presence.

Cute little traits the two had:

Would stand at a door until someone else opened it.

Both would tell others to bow to them.

Refused to follow school expectations.

Both would walk to the front of any line because they were royalty.

Would refuse to do work as they had already learned the material in a previous life.

Would have their parents order pizza to be delivered during language arts.

Would not wear the same outfit more than twice.

and the best one:

The boy would yell out "chicken" every time a teacher asked the class a question. He stopped doing this in my class after I started putting rubber chickens on his music stand.

Unfortunately, both students did not last the year as they were habitually disruptive.

OMG! At least tell me the principal supported you on the whole thing! Why do parents not realize that their kids need to learn social skills in order to be successful happy and well-adjusted? What will happen to these children as adults?

Has anyone taken a look at the Google ads that came with this thread? Truly hysterical!

The website says that the term Indigo Child has nothing to do with their 'auras', but with the fact they are 'synesthetic'(sp?).

Synesthesia is an involuntary joining in which the real information of one sense is accompanied by a perception in another sense. In addition to being involuntary, this additional perception is regarded by the synesthete as real, often outside the body, instead of imagined in the mind's eye. It also has some other interesting features that clearly separate it from artistic fancy or purple prose. Its reality and vividness are what make synesthesia so interesting in its violation of conventional perception. Synesthesia is also fascinating because logically it should not be a product of the human brain, where the evolutionary trend has been for increasing separation of function anatomically.

Can somebody explain that in ENGLISH please? :confused3

I would be happy to:
1) We haven't been able to find a way to explain why our kids are anti-social misfits.
2) So, we have decided that our children are unique and special and they cannot be held personally responsible for their actions because they are not experiencing life on the same plane as mere mortals.
2) We have decided that perception trumps societal rules.
3) You simply couldn't understand because you are not special and your children are just average.
4) If we communicate it in flowery, psycho-babble circles, people will be confused enough to consider it a legitimate physiological phenomenon.
5) We smoked too much pot in high school/college.

Are you kidding me? Believed they are reincarnated royalty? Did they really act that way? And what did your principal say? I wonder what color my personality is.....

Thank you..that makes it a LOT easier to understand.

1) We haven't been able to find a way to explain why our kids are anti-social misfits.
5) We smoked too much pot in high school/college.

Hey wait a minute..you're not channelling my mother are you? :rotfl2:

OK, going out on a limb here.......I actually know a lot about this subject and I don't think a worse definition or web site about could have been quoted. Through no fault of the OP! It's not about reincarnated royalty etc....

It's more about kids and young adults who are really sensitve to their envirnment. Just think about the excessive numbers of children who are growing up with the ADD/ADHD label. They don't function in "normal" school settings...etc... The people who really know what this is about are simply promoting natural ways to help these people grow and function in society without being medicated. Evolution, maybe...finding a solution to a real problem, labels and all....a good thing!

Just my 50 cents! :sunny:

P.S......I am not pulling a TomCruise and saying that ADD/ADHD are not real and that meds are completely bad, just that often they should be looked to as a last resort.

I am all for trying to find ways to not medicate people if it is unnecessary, but every single site I can find that explains Indigo children is totally full of crappola.

It is my belief that these children are not functioning because they have people around them who are over-analyzing and not expecting them to function.

People are far too willing to explain and excuse bad behavior with psycho babble. That is the REAL phenomenon going on. Evolution, auras, psychic tendencies...OMG...give me a break.

JMO.

I don't know, I just read that site that ilovepcot posted and I still don't buy it. It still sounds like they are "invading" our planet and "taking over" the world. It sounds very strange to me. Sorry...Hey, I guess I'm not one or I would have known by now?

Or maybe Nelly Olson?

Either way, the term "brat" seems to come to mind. (BTW--We'll miss you tonight!)

I agree. Most of the "indigo Child" descriptives aren't ADD issues, just brat issues.
