I need a little help preparing for this ride. I love Dinosaur at DW and I know I will love this one but I have heard there is something to do with Spiders on the Indiana Jones Ride. I am horribly afraid of spiders so I was considering not riding because of this. Can someone please tell me exactly where in the ride they are and if its just a visual thing or if they make it feel like they are actually touching you. Thanks princess:

It is just visual. Nothing actually touches you in the ride. :thumbsup2

If you love Dinosaur, you'll love this, because it's even BETTER! The spider part is shadows on a wall, pretty much. It goes fast.

The cool part about Indy is it's never quite the same ride--so make sure you go on it more than once!

Make sure to grab the bamboo pole on the left in the "spike room" on your way in! :cool1:

Absolutely !!!! :thumbsup2

I also recommend walking slowly through the cue (you'll hit the line eventually, so walk slowly and enjoy the details).

I told my 8 y/o son, "Alec, do NOT grab that pole!" (as I was grabbing it and pulled it to me)

There was a very sweet looking "buttoned down" family behind us at the time.

My son & this family all looked like :scared1: ...& then this...:faint: ...2-4 seconds after i had pulled the pole. :rotfl2:

It was classic.

So yes...anything on Indy that says "don't pull" or "don't touch".....by all means pull & touch. :rolleyes1

hound :3dglasses

I didn't know about this stuff when we rode. Some big oaf near us kept pulling on anything and everything, including the items labeled "Don't touch!" DS6 asked me why he was doing that, and I told him, "Apparently he can't read yet." :lmao:

I laughed even harder when his yanking actually made something happen, I had no idea! (Though it did scare DS6 a bit...) :rotfl2:

I would have to say fear of spiders is my biggest phobia, but Indy has never bothered me and is one of my favorite rides. I will not, however go to It's A Bug Life in DCA!

I think you will be glad you went on Indy, though.

June 27th will be our kids 1st trip to Disneyland and I was looking online at the height requirements and Indiana Jones has a taller requirement than any other ride in the park. It was brand new the last time I was there so it's been a while, but, I don't remember it being particularly wild or dangerous. At least not enough that our kids DD5 and DS6 couldn't handle it. But, they are only 44" and 46" tall so neither meets the 48" mark.

Long story short:rolleyes1 Can anyone explain to me why this ride has a 48" requirement to ride? If my kids are borderline can they get on still? And, would it be a safety concern?

Thanks!

The track is also the same for dinosaur and Indy

They needed a quick way to make the track so they took the track designs and made a new attraction around it

The do not touch poles are really cool when you pull on them

Indy has a 46" requirement (maybe you confused it with CA Screamin' which does have a 48" requirement). It's for your kids safety, so, no, they won't let them go if they're borderline.

The ride is very rocky. I would recommend putting cell phones and keys and anything the could be shaken loose in your bag.

This last trip I saw one woman lose something and they stopped looking for it because the ride was still running.

Bags go in this net thats on the back of the seat in front of you and it holds everything pretty well.

I thought it was 48 too, but just looked on disneyland.com, and it's 46. Doesn't help your shorter one, but could help your taller one.

As for why? Well, I did find it to be very whippy. My brother and SIL, who are both younger and MUCH fitter than I am, were in serious pain after the ride. Of course, if they'd just GO to a chiropractor instead of searching for one for YEARS, their spines might be stronger and more able to handle it...but I digress. silly brother and SIL.

I would think it's just a bit much on a younger person, hence the height limits. Also, if I recall correctly, it's just a lap bar? So lap bar combined with too short combined with whipping around corners and such (man I love that ride) might be the reason they want a bit more height on the guests!

I could be very wrong on this but I remember them as being beetles, not spiders?? But yes they are just shadows on the walls, nothing touches you.

This is one of my fav rides.

Yes, it's definitely 46 inches. My ds just hit 46 inches and is excited to go on Indy during our trip next month. The ride is very jerky (just like Dinosaur), so I think that's probably why it has a height requirement. I could see a smaller child just get thrown around too much.

I was thinking it was just lapbelts, not even a lap bar? DS6 sat in the middle (I wanted bodies on either side of him), and I had a death grip on his thigh furthest from me. This allowed my arm to buffer him a bit from hitting the back of the seat in front of him. I was in the driver's seat, so had my left hand on the steering wheel, and my right on DS's leg. On sharp right turns, I swear I was hanging halfway out of the vehicle! :scared1:

But MAN, what a rush!!! My DS6 and I came out of the ride talking non-stop to each other, and then to DH, who just laughed at us. :lmao:

Are they even spiders? I always thought they were like scarabs...
