Is the motion in DL's Indiana Jones Adventure similar to AK's Dinosaur? I've just been reading the description of the former and it seems like it would feel like Dinosaur did. Hoping that someone who has read both can let me know.

They are very similar in motion. BUT, I sooo prefer Indiana Jones. The story line makes more sense and the affects are wesome

i don't find them similar at all.

dinosaur is a bore compared to Indy. I've ridden Indy 3x each day I could. dinosaur i've been on a total of 3x (and I've been to WDW more often than DLR) and twice is when i was taking other people on. in fact, one said 'that was it?' when it ended.

I was talking about the motion of the two rides. The cars are similar and the movement is similar. But I agree that is where the similarities stop. We LOVE Indy. We actually only rode Dino once. That was enough. The effects of Indy are out of this world

The technology is the same but I would agree the theming and story for Indy is better. The que lines are great on Indy and the ride has more surprises. That said, I do enjoy Dinosaur, it is just not as extensive as Indy.

That's interesting. Dinosaur was my favourite ride at AK. I guess I'll really love Indy then.

You will love it and since you like Dino so much I am sure you will be blown away by Indy. Be sure to look around and notice all the details in the que line.

I have never been on Indiana Jones. When I was younger my Mom would say it was too jerky and you'll get brain damage. Ugh, that's my Mom for you! LOL

Anyway it's one of my son's and DH's favorites. I haven't rode it yet because I wasn't sure about drops. Does it give you that "butterfly" feeling in your stomach at all? I have a hard time with my stomach on harder rides, so I'm leary and have learned to not listen to my two guys (all rides are easy for them!). Can anyone help me out here? I really would like to try it this time!

Indy has no drops really. The car actually stays on a pretty smooth track and does nothing but move you forward with its four wheels. What gives you the feeling of motion is the top portion of the car, with hydrolics and things its moves the section where guests sit giving them the feeling of turning sharp corners, backing up and forward fast motion. Most people never complain about stomach issues with this one. Most people if they have an issue is with some of the jerkiness. I hate to ever say that any ride is perfect for everyone, but I love this ride and think you might want to give it at least one shot.

I just went on it for the first time a week or so ago--I thought there was a drop (maybe when the giant rock starts rolling towards you?) Definitely felt like I was going down--I likened it to the first drop on Pirates in some ways--issue was that I wasn't familiar with it so to me it was very scary because I didn't know how far I was going. Combined with that, the general jerkiness of the ride (really felt like I was going to get tossed out of the vehice) and the giant snake(!) I doubt I will be doing this ride again (LOL--I avoided the ride because of the snake for a long time . . . and that actually was not so bad).

If you do go on it, I would suggest sitting in the middle--I was on the end and for me it was very scary--I held on for dear life and was very sore the next day--and think it was from tensing of muscles on this ride.

But then--I'm a wimp! ;)

Agree with fairycat, just ride it as it is an E ticket attraction. No drops, just hydraulic movements. Enjoy!

While there is that "drop" Indiana Jones is not a roller coaster, so you don't get that "stomach feeling" from that. Basically all the track is doing is travelling downwards. It's not a drop. It just feels like part of the ride. If that makes sense.

I had heard they were using the same track. Indy does have a drop but this last time we rode it we got stuck right after the 'drop' for a while (no idea what happened) and I looked back at the 'drop' it was very tiny compard to what I though it was.... I think if you can handle most of the rides you will be fine. Space and Thunder are worse in my opinion...

I don't handle too much! LOL How would you compare it to the first drop in POTC? That's about all the drop I seem to handle. Stupid stomach of mine. *sigh*

i thought they used the same ride vehicle platformpopcorn::

cannot remember the name, it's controlled by computer & "reacts" to what you experience in the ride

sounds like Dinosaur motion to me...which is way too jerky/bouncy for me:confused3 still, i've got to experience it to find out for myself & will worry about my aching back later;)

I have always believed that to be true as well. Don't know if I was misinformed but I understand it is the same track system. That being said, I found Indy a lot "tamer" than Dinosaur. I don't know if it's the lighting or what but that's how I felt.

They are very similar rides. I believe that the ride vehicle is exactly the same. I think the queue area for Indy is much cooler than the Dinosaur queue but I enjoyed the Dino ride more. But I only rode Indy once and would probably enjoy it more if I rode it a few more times and was able to take in more of the details.

even with the vehicles being the same (and the track depending on who you ask), the vehicles move on their own. therefore it can be as slow or quick at any point in the game as the imagineers want it to be.

dinosaur tends to start out very slow and once you hit the time travel segment, that's when it really kicks in.

indy is more consistent. and overall, just probably better themed.

I seriously think the "Indy and Dinosaur have the same track layout" is just a myth. But if it is true, then it really has no impact on anything because the ride vehicles do the motion and the theming is far superior in Indy. I don't see why them both having the same track layout helps. :confused3

People call it a drop because the track is travelling downwards. It's not a drop in my opinion. It's way smaller than Pirates. You don't get that "stomach" feeling.
