I've just discovered it and love the flavors. I've been told I'm an excellent cook but that's with flavors and ingredients I am familiar with. I know nothing about the spices or ingredients in Indian food. Does anyone have any tips or recipes for a beginner?

Everything you need including tips and nicely made video...

Interesting video. I bought Hot Curry from our local international farmer's market. Am I correct in assuming that Curry Powder is actually a mix of many of the spices in the video? I never really thought about what Curry Powder was. I guess I thought it came from something called Curry:upsidedow

I discovered Indian food a few years ago. This is my FAVORITE recipe EVER! Read the reviews, use less salt (for sure!), and make it! You will not be disappointed! There are some other good recipes on that website....just search!

Oh, and to make it healthier, I marinate peppers and onions with the chicken...yum! : )

Yes, curry powder is a mix....

BTW, if you ever see a recipe that calls for "Asifetdah", it will almost always call for just a "pinch"..... Seriously.... DO NOT use more than a pinch. It smells bad, and too much will ruin your recipe.

I may have spelled that wrong, but it is pretty close....

i agree with PP its astofieda and seriously use a pinch. If a dish says MSG u cna avoid it it will still taste the same.

Turns out that we BOTH spelled it incorrectly. From my container:

Asafoetida.

And strangely enough, my container says "Made in India. Not for sale in India".
