Hi All,just realised i'm gonnae be in florida for Independence Day 4th july celebrations, can anyone recommend the best place to go/things to do on this day ?? :yay:

We've been for independance day 3 times. It is very very busy. One year we had discovery cove booked just to miss the crowds.

We watched fireworks at the studios one year and they were brilliant. I'm sure someone said that it is the only day they have fireworks there but that might be wrong. I think the fireworks at MK are changed slightly from normal and are really good. Haven't been to epcot for it. Where ever yo are is really good fun. At DTD they had a competition for kids just to celebrate and they all got a sweetie for taking part.

There is some good info here:

I'm also going to be there as well. MK run their fireworks on 3rd and 4th. So I'm doing MK on 3rd and then going to EPCOT (which can deal best with crowds) on 4th.

Have fun and just be prepared for lots and lots of people.

If you don't mind driving then Mount Dora is a great place to visit on July 4th. It's a quaint lakeside town about 40 miles north west of Orlando which we discovered purely by chance a few years back but it now gets a mention in several guidebooks as a nice place to visit.:)
On Independance Day, they have a parade through the town and sweets & beads are thrown from the floats to the crowds which the kids love. The parade ends in the park where stalls selling food and drink have been set up and different bands play throughout the day to add to the atmosphere.
In addition to this, there are various contests going on(pie eating, hog calling, egg throwing etc) which anyone can enter and are such a good laugh to watch.:rotfl2:
There are also free activities on all day for the kids, horse riding, bouncy castles, face painting etc.
The day finally ends with fireworks over the lake, not quite Epcot standard, but good none the less.
It's a good place to go for some good old American fun if you don't want to be in the parks.

We were in orlando one year and it was fireworks galore, everywhere you looked, were going to be in san fran this year:banana:
