Independence Air stops operations

as of Thursday January 5th.

They were a great airline - the only discount airline flying out of my closest airport, so rates from all the airlines flying out of their airports lowered.

They tried to be a step above the rest, at lower prices - better snacks, warm towels... all leather seating ...their FAA announcements were given by celebrities! I got them by James Carville/Matlin and oh, who was the comedian guy who went to Monday night Football for a while, I can't remember his name! Oh! Dennis Miller!

Wow. Sooner than predicted but not at all unexpected. Frequent flyer websites had said that Jan 9th would be the last day.

Get ready for airline tickets to skyrocket in the markets formerly served by FlyI as the only low cost carrier.

We flew with them last September and were very pleased with their service. This is too bad.

Bummer, we flew to WDW on them last October, good flights & service. Was hoping they'd make it through the rumors

Too bad. We had a great flight with them in October. The only problem was we got 4 roundtrip tickets for $387. Maybe we helped send them under

Another bummed IFly traveler here.

We flew Chicago to Dulles & Dulles to Savannah last summer. Loved it!

Now we'll have to go to plan "B".
